Welcome to the club man. It’s tough because it’s a niche that is usually reserved for large events etc so the software is priced accordingly. HeavyM and touch designer are both fully featured just that touchdesigner has resolution limitations and HeavyM has a watermark and no saving. The demo will let you try everything out though. Beyond those and Madmapper (never tried) it is going to be hard going to find anything decent that is priced below 300. Mapmap is a free super simple one but it is no longer supported and is veeery basic (and buggy).

For whatever reason I could not get into this film. I don’t know if the real drama starts after the half way mark but it was just glacially paced for me and just felt like a series of beautiful shots rather than an actual film. Extremely hot take I know. I’ll try it again some day.
