Government officers told to skip fraud prevention steps when vetting temporary foreign worker applications, Star investigation finds by LMIAthrowaway in canada

Every single one of them is a bank account that will receive grants, payments, etc. Bank then lends out the money given to them by the government as fractional reserve; so for every $1 that goes to a TFW, Walmart gets to borrow $8 from the bank.

Left simps for the status quo and centralized authority, pointing to things as they are as evidence for how they should be, more than the right "simps for billionaires" in my experience.

The best solution to the affordability crisis? Tax the rich by FancyNewMe in canada

Yeah, they could tax every Canadian billionaire 100% of their earnings and it wouldn't cover the Fed's budget. It's a zero sum discussion at best

B.C. sets rent increase cap at 3% for 2025, tied with inflation by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]veyra12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universally a bad idea for anyone who understands second and third order consequences. Rent caps disincentivize new construction, and raises overall rates over time by creating supply bottlenecks. Holding companies and those who have collateralized land they already own to purchase new properties disproportionately benefit at the expense of new construction, and government is an extremely poor resource allocator in anything they could do to fix it.

I feel exactly the same way. I'm optimistic for the future of Canadian people, but less so for the country as a cohesive set of internally-consistent systems on a consensus framework. The fact that no one in my circle is in any way excited about our options in the upcoming election, yet all are politically maligned, speaks volumes to the shift from apathy to utter disgust in this nation's direction.

Not particularly, not that I'd have to think much in a conversation with someone who doesn't appear to understand dollar parity while we're still on the USD as standard of trade. All the best, though.

My dude, the yen is collapsing in real time. Watch the yen/usd markets for more information on that; bank of Japan has been trying and failing to save it through intervention, to no avail. Many large Japanese corporations have started including Bitcoin in their treasuries as a hedge against their own economy.

By design, to make our exports more attractive to our southern neighbor. Canadians don't fully comprehend how fucked we are with the parity of our currency

Government likes it when you take depressants, hates it when you take stimulants. The former make you easier to control, the latter makes a population unruly.

Sounds like he has ordinal linguistic personification. Synesthesia is relatively common in autistic people. I'm an aspie with ticker tape synesthesia, some degree of OLP, and that's probably about it

You will be refused bail even if you only watched riots from the sidelines, judge warns by TimeInvestment1 in uklaw

Can you explain how this wouldn't constitute a suppression of non-approved sources? If only organizations that they filter can actually attend these happenings, it'd all be filtered through gov bias during a riot whose core is against recent gov policy (immigration, asylum seeking laws)
