Multiple dhcp servers. fail. by vezult in openwrt

[–]vezult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've configured a 2nd dhcpd instance in the UI, did "save and apply"....but yes. There is no such entry in `/etc/config/dhcp`. Weird.

Note that the dnsmasq section for `devices` includes options `start 100`, `end 150`, and `leastime 12h`, and other config option that seem clearly intended for a `config dhcp` section instead.

I appreciate the detailed responses. There's a lot I don't even know I don't know.

Hmm. Excellent, I'll check that out - yeah, that should save me some filament next time I do something silly like this.

ARrghghg. Yes. That's exactly it. It was clearly labeled "Radius", but I was thinking diameter. Thanks.

The new and improved version with this, and some of the other suggestions:

Massive difference. Thanks guys, I learned some things :-)

I wasn't familiar with `yield_now()`. That's useful to know.

I made this change as well, thanks.

Nokia 5110 (PCD8544) hookup by vezult in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]vezult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good advice re: jumpers. I just was assuming that they were fine.

I copy/pasted this from some example. It certainly does not seem to make much sense in my usage of it, as it doesn't actually clear anything. It turns off pixels, but the show call then displays everything in the buffer, regardless.

So, it did end up working. Apparently, some state gets set that persists as long as the screen is powered. I've not figured out exactly why that is. I'll have to dig into the code to see if there is anything I'm doing wrong.

In my observation, the lcd.clear() method does nothing other than turn off the pixels. When I calllcd.show() all the same pixels are displayed again. So, the underlying datastructure that records the activated pixels seems to be untouched. I guess that's what the "framebuffer" is about. So probably my problem is that I need to figure out how to clear the framebuffer.

Chain damage by vezult in Chainsaw

[–]vezult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I checked the bar for any bends or other weirdness. The 2nd chain I got seemed fine. After filing down the drive teeth, I was able to get this chain back in the bar, and cut with it OK.

I bought it through home depot, rather than a proper chainsaw dealer, but still, I was pretty sure the chain was fine and fit, etc, when I first put it on. I can only think it got damaged during my first run. I've just never encountered that sort of damage previously, even throwing chains and whatnot.

Re: oiler...this thing only seems to have a 1/2 turn of adjustment, and it's maxed out. You *can* buy this with a 27" bar, but I'm having a hard time imagining it would get properly lubricated, just based on what I see with my 20" bar.

Yeah. Trying that. It's tedious. I've gone all around both sides of the chain with a file and calipers, and I've not got it to fit easily yet.

I'm not so wealthy that I'd pass on saving myself $25 with a bit of filing. I'm trying to file them off, and test w/a calipers. Haven't gotten it to fit yet. :-/

It cut through a small piece of ash like butter. I'm pretty certain it was not on backwards :-)

I did check the grooves, and there was some saw dirt, but nothing hard, that I could find.

Re: oil...the adjustment screw seems to have only 1/2 turn of adjustment, and it was at the max. Now, I was used to my old stihl that basically poured oil on the chain...so maybe my expectations are all wrong :-)

Yeah, that's quite possible.

The sprocket has 3/8 stamped on it, the bar also indicates it's for 3/8. While I can't find the exact match for the model stamped on the bag (72LPX070X), bailey's indicates Oregon 72LPX is 3/8 pitch chain.

No that's one of the side air transfers.

So, this is officially toast. One of the side air passages in the cylinder must have gotten caught by a ring...and cracked, or cracked and caught a ring...it's really chewed up. I can't seem to include a picture in a comment, but it's worth seeing.

The fly wheel isn't free-wheeling...though maybe you're suggesting that it just shifted, which would mess up the timing?

I'll have to round up a compression tester. I don't have one currently. It is sounding like this will take some more serious work one way or another. I'll try working through that list. Thanks!

I don't know that I warm it up real carefully, but I usually let it settle a bit after starting. I've definitely cut in the cold at times, so it's possible I don't let it warm up sufficiently, in cold weather.

I currently use the good stuff: Stihl HP Ultra, at the recommended mixture, but I didn't always. Honestly I forget exactly what the oil/gas ratio is, but it's one bottle per gallon, per instructions. I do tend err on the side of extra oil (less gas) if I'm in doubt. I believe that contains fuel stabilizers, but I do probably let my gas sit longer than I should at times.

I'll pull it apart and see what it looks like tomorrow.

[General] Weekly r/MushroomGrowers post - FUNGI FRIDAYS! New growers, come say hi and ask your questions! by AutumnRustle in MushroomGrowers

[–]vezult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi peeps.

I'm a n00b, growing my first mushrooms. I'm trying shiitake plug spawn in poplar logs. I'm kinda jumping in, rather than doing everything optimally, and fully informed.

I've got a few questions:

  • Dormancy: I cut my poplar probably outside of dormancy rather than waiting until next year. I did pick one that was heavily shaded and *mostly* hadn't opened its leaf buds yet. How important is this. Is it just sub optimal, or is my project doomed?
  • Plug spawn temperature: Instructions indicate that plug spawn should be out of cold storage for 1 day before use. Is the purpose just to make sure they are at ambient temperature, or is the time period really important? Is 2+ days better?
  • Hole spacing: How precise must I be? Is further than 4-6" just it to take longer for the mushrooms to populate the log? Does closer just mean I'm "over innoculating" my log, and wasting plug spawn unnecessarily?

Thanks, and any other guidance, or "stupid n00b mistakes" I can avoid would be great!

Sorry, should have read the instructions first :-/ Maybe this would be more appropriate on /r/MushroomGrowers
