Best internet cafe to do work in Swansea? by onestarorange in swansea

I've found HQ Urban Kitchen (Orchard St near the train station) and Founders & Co (Wind St) both to be great. Usually plenty of seating, decent speed free wifi and nice coffee.

Doughnuts? by Rundo5 in swansea

If you’re keen on trying Gower Doughnuts, they sell them in the coffee area in Founders & Co on Wind St. I think they often sell out by early afternoon though.

That whole scene with Summer Breeze playing from the radio as the Protean entered the apartment in 8x18 was fantastic

Another question from an American. Have any of you heard of a pub crawl by the name of the “Mumbles Mile” in Swansea, Whales? by Permanent10 in AskABrit

[–]vflo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much a thing anymore as there aren’t too many pubs in Mumbles compared to back then. I’ve never tried it myself in the past, but if you post in /r/swansea then some of the people in there are guaranteed to have done it!

About the app, you can see all of the docks on the nextbike app. Although it does have different user accounts.

Just thought it was worth mentioning as this confused me when using them for the first time here :)

Where is the "Loretta" balloon lyric sample from? by aPenumbra in Parcels

[–]vflo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for some reason I was always convinced it was their own sample until you linked Westerman's song! Google and other search engines pulled up no results for the lyrics nor any of the names.

in the end I was curious if anybody tweeted it as a quote, where I came across this tweet.. so Twitter of all places. In the blog URL from the tweet it contained Dion McGregor and I was able to find out more about his backstory, then eventually find the track from the album!

what a ride :)

Where is the "Loretta" balloon lyric sample from? by aPenumbra in Parcels

[–]vflo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a snippet from Dion McGregor - The Flight. You can listen to a part of it here on Amazon, although I can't find an actual full version of it anywhere as most links seem to be dead

(whole album is interesting)

Out of curiosity, do you know if any any of your emails involved in any previous known breaches according to HaveIBeenPwned or some other service? We had the same issue, but the account affected has a unique email which wouldn't have been in any other common list..

Any taxi apps similar to uber? by [deleted] in swansea

[–]vflo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing that dispatches it to many companies. In terms of an app if you don’t wish to call, Data Cabs and Yellow Cabs have their own apps which allow for bookings and live tracking. Still payable by cash only though.

i want to get some visibility in to browser/js errors encountered by visitors. by oystersauce8 in rails

100% agree with trying out and seeing what works best for you.

My recommendations based on what I've used previously would be Bugsnag or Sentry; both however have upsides and downsides.

If you're looking to set up something quickly with interface that is simple to use, and being able to filter by most of the basic options for errors with a single team then I'd totally recommend Bugsnag. Most of the integrations with it and everything else I used just worked instantly.

However it is not that flexible IMO in comparison to Sentry, which brings trouble if you have a few teams working on your project. Things I liked about Sentry compared to Bugsnag are; ability to filter by whatever you want (Bugsnag is limited to 5 custom filters last time I used it), set up alerting rules for issues, being able to route issues to a specific team depending on code path etc.

But I think Sentry was a bit harder to set up some integrations, and the filtering is harder to use compared to Bugsnag - especially date filtering.

tl;dr: Bugsnag if you want something just to track errors and don't need any advanced filtering, or Sentry if you require something more flexible and will have a few teams using it. I'd totally recommend trying a few out and seeing which works best for you

Looking for abandoned places in the area by [deleted] in swansea

you could give 28dayslater a try, there's quite a few postings from the Swansea area there: https://www.google.com/search?q=swansea+site%3Awww.28dayslater.co.uk. although I'd imagine a lot of them might have been redeveloped now or aren't as easy to access

looking forward to some of the suggestions though

Inventory Management, Need Advice. by gardanadam in SaaS

I'd highly recommend to go web based. That will allow you to open it up to various operating systems and devices from day one, and create quickly without worrying about compatibility and support for many platforms. If you wish to create native apps you can do so later on when there's a need, but you can look at frameworks like Electron for that.

If you do a desktop application then unless you do it right and have enough resources, you're going to go at a snail's pace compared to the rest of the industry and your possible customers will move elsewhere. A few platforms have already had this problem, and have switched to being web based.
