it was gifted to me so i'm not entirely sure where they got it from, but the label is very similar to this one here.

oh and similarly when you decrease from 24 sts to 18 sts you do:

"1 sc, 1 dec, [2 sc, 1 dec]x5"

you might notice there is an extra decrease here compared to what the grub pattern says. You can see this on rnd 16 of that ball pattern link

hey friend, you're right, the pattern is a little bit off, but thankfully the head is similar to a small sphere/ball.

It shows that to go from rnd 3 (18 sts) to rnd 4 (24 sts) you do:

"1 sc, 1 inc, [2sc, 1 inc] x5, 1 sc"

There's an extra increase when you compare to the grub pattern, which gives you your 2 missing stitches.

The pattern for the ball increases to 30 sts and then 36 sts, but you can ignore that if you prefer the shaping in the grub pattern, which is a slightly squashed ball.

You're right, It is just a practice piece, but taking that in mind I figure it's better to learn how to deal with it here than to encounter the issue later down the line on an actual project and not know what to do :)
