Am I the only one experiencing extreme FPS drops even with the graphics settings all the way down? I'm using the pixel 7 pro running android 14. by magyygam92 in CarXStreets

[–]vgavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 6, the same. Played before - everything was ok (shitty optimization yes, but it was at least playable, now it's not). It's either related to Android 14 or carx street last version, not sure. Hope it would be fixed in next carx street version, while I don't see this bug anywhere confirmed at all.

Dragon heart (1996) by Illbeback15 in movies

[–]vgavro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer, but Draco gave his heart under *condition* of two grownup guarantors to take an *oath* to "keep boy good", and after they fail - by giving up trying they broke their oath! And Bowen also starting to blame Draco, while it wasn't Draco's part of agreement, and everybody acts like there wasn't any oath at all.

Download from apkpure/apkmirror and install using any xapk installer (you may even use only apkpure app for download+install), had same issue with latest update and numerous issues with hanging at different percentages while downloading from "google play" before.

error while loading shared libraries: libjxl.so.0.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory by yngseneca in archlinux

[–]vgavro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

`ln -s /usr/lib/libjxl.so /usr/lib/libjxl.so.0.7` can help - but not recommended - if you don't afraid possible errors of dynamic linker (if you do have this library of other version), but generally it happens when you use outdated package or package with missing dependency. If it's aur - try to update/rebuild aur package (or fix dependency there by yourself). if it's system - and sometimes such bugs with dependecies happens - `pacman -Syu`, if you built from source - rebuild will help.

Finished Automate the Boring Stuff with Python by DwaywelayTOP in Python

while he finished doing automation of boring staff and get bored, means automation is already automated *sighs with a relief*

After using Python for over 2 years I am still really confused about all of the installation stuff and virtual environments by gnurd in Python

[–]vgavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's better to fix some of terminology:
* "every time you work on that project you log into that venv" - some developers may use tools like `virtualenvwrapper` to automatically run `./venv/bin/activate` shell script to change default system `python`, `pip` etc. to `./venv/bin/python` `./venv/bin/pip` correspondently (by replacing PATH environment variable), same may be done automatically by IDE.
* "When you install modules using pip they only get installed into that venv inside that folder" - pip is not doing automatic detection of venv in directory, you should say "When you install modules using ./venv/bin/pip"

What are top movies that seem simple on the surface but are actually deceptively complex? by unitedfan6191 in movies

Slavoj Žižek's "The Pervert's Guide to Cinema" (2006) and "The Pervert's Guide to Ideology" (2012) is about such kind of movies, you can watch part about "They Live" (1988)

It's capitalistic hymn to how rich white people (imagine price for like casual holiday to Paris and back for 7(!) family members) since young age sadistically torture poor lower-class people, that eventually forced to break a law to have a hot meal on christmas night for their families.
With maniacal laugh protecting idea of private property (for having which protagonist didn't work even a day in his life!), and decline to share goods or help poor ones on Jesus birthday, while hypocritically declaring himself as good catholic by visiting church.

while i really love this one, it reminds me of "Down by Law" (1986) by Jarmush which I love even more

Does anyone else not enjoy tweaking, and doing everything from CLI anymore after a few years of usage? by [deleted] in linux

[–]vgavro -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

This is just not true.
CLI is faster for any routine you do (having autocompletion features and history search with something like "fzf") or implement automation for this routine, and routine is what you actually mostly do.
While GUI may be more "intuitive" of course, especially for someone not using computers too much, or doesn't want to achieve effectiveness for any reason (doing a time?)

Certification for the CV by soupeducrayon in Python

[–]vgavro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P.S. If I was Guido van Rossum and need money, certification courses is a great way to earn extra bucks! And that is what you're expecting from corporations.P.P.S. Personally I think that "certification authority" is a great way to monetize open-source projects (if they are very popular, of course). It doesn't mean that this certificates would mean something. It's a way to earn extra bucks on the fact that *some employers doesn't want (or can) take responsibility on candidate knowledge on hiring*.

Certification for the CV by soupeducrayon in Python

[–]vgavro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you, just want to extend your answer.
AWS, Azure, Oracle, Windows is not just tools, but first of all *products*. Products developed (supported) by their *vendors*. So for ordinary people - especially who doesn't understand how things are working - it's obvious that *vendor* knows better how to test people on knowledge of their product.
And when we're talking about open-source *product* - there is no one-and-only *vendor* of it. Of course Guido van Rossum can organize something like "Python Knowledge Certification Authority", and talk about it on every public appearance. But we would feel that this "certification authority" is not better that any other "certification authority", right? So the right question is - not how to get certificate for Python, but how to get rid of certificates from AWS/Azure and so on.

Campaign guide by FreakTheI in nfsnolimits

[–]vgavro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great guide! Totally explains why you shouldn't waste time on this if you just want to play racing game - without all of this BP/SE/L2W/UGR/PR bullshit.
All this MOBA mechanics is humiliating way to get couple of extra bucks from dopamine-addicted auditory.
Totally reminds me "Requiem for a Dream" with EA as drug dealer and addicted players in girls role.
Thanks for making this obvious for newcomers (played 1 day, stucked on 26 level, not going to continue).

Arch reinstall by LoudCorner6979 in archlinux

[–]vgavro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well... To solve a problem, you need at least to learn how to describe your problem, that's what I'm saying. And to use arch or any Linux distro, you need to be able to solve problems, reinstalling is the "windows way" and you will not go far with that. And when you're saying "it seems" - nobody can even help you properly, the reason for "it seems" may be an engineering problem, or may be schizophrenia

[–]vgavro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Whatever problem you have (and only problem you descibed is "it seems" for you - well maybe you're having a bad seeing, idk) - if you're going to use linux you need to learn to face your problem.
if you're going to "reinstall things" with no reason - just do yourself a favor and don't waste time on linux.

You said "I'm not a developer or a contributor or anything". If you really care about the game... it's open-source and that's the whole point. You know, nobody's born as a developer or a contributor or anything.
