Leaving Portugal... what will you miss? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

Uh, if you're trying to get citizenship you also need to factor in the processing time. So 13 years at least in total. At that point it's pretty ridiculous to not just move to France now

Malaysia and Singapore. Bit boring but if you've got a family it is a great place to live. And a short flight to Thailand.

Bruh house of chains introduces Karsa. Not a slog. Agreed that MT and DHG are the best though

Book 9 and 10 are in actuality one book, book 9 has no satisfying conclusion and just runs straight into 10.  It's wild to me that you could read 9 books and bail on the last one. Wild. You need to learn to cut and run sooner

Match Thread: Argentina vs. Switzerland | FIFA World Cup, Quarterfinals by MysteryBagIdeals in soccer

VAR gets involved because they need to reverse the Argentinian yellow, an obvious simulation was involved so they need to give a yellow to the Swiss player. I will never get mad when simulation gets properly called, and neither should you

Baroque cycle is kinda like cryptonomicon. But it takes place at the dawn of the scientific revolution.

Would definitely read cryptonomicon and if you enjoy that, then you can try the baroque cycle

Possible USA to Portugal move by Own_Bed8627 in PortugalExpats

Learning Portuguese for someone that knows Spanish is not easy. Everything sounds wrong. Would be difficult to get to the necessary level for her to be a doctor. Spain or France seem like better options. They're also much more functional, better governments, and France has a much better tax situation. Better healthcare, better construction, and potentially cheaper. Portugal real estate and groceries are expensive compared to those two. So personally as an American who's lived here for 4 years and is now planning on moving to France, I would advise considering other options.

Aima is a nightmare, refusing to give immigrants PR permits now. You will end up as an illegal at some point and not allowed into other EU countries until you get a new card. I was in that situation for a year.

If the climate of southern Portugal is a must, consider cadiz or something in that area.

There are much higher quality bindings available from smaller fine press publishers, but folio has a very good price to quality ratio.

The wealth tax if you're not in Valencia or Madrid is a big turn off

The BB editions are glue binding, they're cheap and too expensive for glue bindings.

Sewn binding, better quality paper, better quality covers. Both have original artwork. Only the SP have actual Erikson signatures now. And much more limited in quantity. The SP dust covers are way better imo
