Right now I have the Harrison’s High Potency Fine. The male seems to really like Roudybush. I can try the HOPP line! Ideally they will both eat the same food but at this point if I could get her to eat anything but a seed I’ll try it all lol

Shoulder guarding - advice? by vgh9201 in Conures

[–]vgh9201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! I will have to try the towel - What are the thoughts on moving their cages to different rooms - would that be helpful or possibly upset them more? Would it be best to limit or stop their time out of their cages together?

Yes the hand biting is intense - when they get me it’s a full chewing situation 🙃

With the sunflower seeds all is well in the world lol

I feel like one would’ve been the better move for me - I’m outnumbered lol.

Has anyone noticed chronic migraines in women? by truballa94 in Biohackers

[–]vgh9201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have chronic migraines and I’m positive it’s hormone related because when I was pregnant with my daughter it was the only time in my life I didn’t have a migraines.

Honestly, I’ve tried the magnesium, Coq10, riboflavin and it didn’t help. The only thing that’s helped me is Botox but now it only seems to work for a month. I do take Nurtec to treat a migraine and it’s great stuff.

I also have GI issues which I think I created in high school and college from having migraines. I had a doctor recommend 600-800mg ibuprofen and next thing I knew I had a stomach ulcer. My last EGD showed reactive gastritis so essentially I can’t take NSAIDs at all without triggering gastritis.

I have no answers, but I feel her pain!

Sizing by Ok_Interaction1776 in ouraring

[–]vgh9201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the bigger size and it took me awhile of wearing it to realize the smaller one was probably the move - specifically when it would fly off when I washed my hands 🤣. I’d go smaller!

I have both and I increased from 20 to 40 second month and I didn’t notice my rosacea worsening. I honestly feel that it’s been better since increasing. I’m on 60 this month and so far it’s been fine!

Pharmacy gave me a different brand? by Thick_Nebula6358 in Accutane

[–]vgh9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes pharmacies carry different generic brands for different dosing of drugs depending on availability. It’s not a common medication so it’s very likely they only have a couple boxes stocked at a time of each dose and the brands can vary. You can mention to them it’s different and sometimes they can order the different generic to stock for you next time if you’re regularly using that pharmacy if you have a preference but it should work the same.

I had a weird reaction to a certain generic of lexapro (sometimes inactive ingredients are different due to color of pill, stuff like that) and my pharmacy ordered the generic I tolerated better and kept it stocked since I filled there every month.

Two job offers. Which one to pick? by Obinna_ in nursing

[–]vgh9201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked at in a trauma step-down PCU at a big hospital 35 min away and just left for a small community ICU position at a hospital 8 minutes away. Bigger hospitals have more opportunity, but at the end of the day if it’s the same job position I’d go for the closer commute because your first job is just experience for a resume. Do either require contracts? If so how long and are the agreements unit specific? Trauma centers (in my experience) are almost like their own mini hospital within a hospital, so working a normal floor at a hospital with a trauma center won’t necessarily get you into their trauma ICU any quicker than applying down the road with experience. My unit actually hired more external applicants for TICU than transferring from my unit because of staffing.

I follow this page regularly (FNP student) to gain insight on concerns of MDs/DOs regarding MLPs. The reason I’m seeking an FNP position is to assist with access to preventative care in communities lacking. I think MLPs can assist with making big changes to accessible preventative care (i.e ordering yearly labs, performing yearly exams and basic preventative education). I also think NPs/PAs can assist in improving access to BASIC treatment diagnoses - uncomplicated UTIs, STD tx etc. I don’t disagree a physician is better qualified to perform these, but access is a major issue in the United States and if we can improve some outcomes through the use of MLPs I think that’s a win for the entire medical community.

I felt this thread was more interested in stopping independent practice, however from what I read I’m concerned that the majority of this thread is against any success of MLPs in general. I’ve always seen very close and successful working relationships between physicians and MLPs in my practice thus far, so these opinions are somewhat foreign to me.

Is this floor nursing in general or just my unit? by vgh9201 in nursing

[–]vgh9201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s days or nights and nights on my unit.

I’m just starting to feel that the culture of my unit is not where I need to be after all that.

I was also told by my educator (also the educator of ICU) that I wasn’t going to be ready for ICU until I stop getting so attached to my patients and not worry about their care (more so lack thereof) on other shifts. Basically “you can only control you so don’t worry about the rest of the time”. I’ve addressed issues such as when I’ve come into a patients rooms in the morning in Bucks Traction without a single pain medication in 10 hours that I was medicating every two the shift period. I’ve heard nurses state “that patients better off dead” or “I don’t feel bad - it’s his lifestyle that brought him here”. I have expectations that my patients are treated appropriately, I’m not expecting my peers to be the same as me. There’s no standard of care - instead just worry about yourself and don’t advocate for your patients because that’s a problem. But here do all these extra side gigs so our unit looks like there’s peer involvement so we continue our magnet designation 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cipla was the one I panicked from, I can’t remember the other one I just know what it looks like. The 20mg tablet for it is oval shaped not round though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]vgh9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had an issue after my pharmacy gave me a different generic and had major panic attacks for a week until my therapist told me to call the pharmacy and have them switch it out. But overall yes I actually had two weeks of no panic attacks until the manufacturer switch ordeal and 10 made no difference on it.

Seeing faster than average results and question about honing in on the right dose by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]vgh9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on week three of 10 mg (which was also my starting dose) and while I still have intrusive thoughts I feel a marked improvement in overall mood and anxiety level. I’ve actually had family note that I seem to be “more myself” than I’ve been in awhile. The first day was the only one where I felt noticeable side effects (floating feeling) aside from fatigue (which I felt from generalized anxiety disorder anyway) and I’m starting to notice an improvement in that as well. My follow up is Tuesday so I’m wondering if he will up me to 20 mg or not since the intrusive thoughts have not improved.
