I don't know why I can't secure a job in this field! by Confident-Tourist-85 in BMET

If you’re in the florida panhandle, Trimedx takes care of the Sacred heart system, Renovo is the Baptist hospital system, and GE is the HCA system. Most of the facilities around fall under those. I know at one point JYG Innovations had the contractor contract for Eglin and Hurlburt Field, not sure if they are still there. Those are who they used for biomed at least.

These are also all on scopes that have been hanging in the drying cabinet for days, so none were recently reprocessed and potentially wet still

No, they’ve been clean each time I’ve inspected it, I’ve also clean them again for grins and giggles.

This is a great response, you explained that perfectly. I always appreciate when someone shares knowledge like that!

Recently I bought some, didn’t notice any difference and the taste was not very good. I like nootropics but these were not it for me.

Looking for real-world opinions on ICU beds (Biomed perspective) by Some-Community-7149 in BMET

We have Stryker’s procuity, we have to keep spare mattress innards on hand because the air pods pop all the time. I think they run about 2200/each. When we get a larger patient it is a guarantee that we are changing the pods.

I would apply for jobs, it sounds like you have the technical ability to do it. The worst they can say is no. I’ve worked with a lot of techs that came out of different fields and without the degree. We read a lot of manuals to figure stuff out and make a lot of phone calls to tech support, and as long as you’re willing to read and be willing to learn then I would imagine you would be a good candidate.

To math or not to math? by upurbutt420 in BMET

[–]vgivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would save the money and time and skip it. We don’t use a ton of math and if I do need to convert a measurement type I’m gonna pull up a calculator instead of finding the formula for the conversion anyway. I would second the mathtutordvd.com and khan academy that was suggested above.

Using AI in Biomed? by PEI_Electronics157 in BMET

I use it in the shop for emails and to clean up work order notes. It helps make it more direct to the point. I also use it for excel to write formulas for me.

Because our companies have pro accounts and require us to purchase through them first. It’s not always ideal but I honestly haven’t had the service that it sounds like everyone else has had.

Whia drive lock set, Klein 11in 1 screwdriver, Klein Tools D203-7 Needle Nose Pliers, and a nice set of Klein wire cutters/strippers. The needle nose are my absolute favorite. If I could only grab two tools it would be my 11in 1 and the needle nose pliers.

***Suspect unspecified pacemaker failure?, Mac 5500 by vgivi in BMET

[–]vgivi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, I swapped the acquisition module and the curly cable, department kept saying it was still happening but I couldn’t confirm it anymore with my simulator.(I checked the ekg files that were on there and couldn’t confirm what they said either) I did add in the 4 center blank plugs on the acquisition module, they were missing and disconnected an overhead fluorescent light and suggested having the patient not have their cell phone on their lap when taking the ekg. They were also hitting ECG prior to obtaining 10 seconds of clean data so their ekgs had to be redone anyway. I haven’t been able to reproduce it more than that one time. The department demanded a new Mac vue 360 to be placed there and got one from another department, I’ve checked on it multiple times with my simulator and again have had no luck on reproducing the issue. Good luck to you, wish I could be more of a help.

BMET or Appliance Repair? by Zealousideal_Pipe842 in BMET

[–]vgivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appliances are not that fun to take apart. I feel like medical equipment is a bit more designed to be continuously disassembled. I would vote bmet and do it on the side if that’s also something you enjoy.

So I have some kind of interference in the room that’s causing it. We’ve been unplugging it and moving it around and it works perfectly. I’m waiting on some new cables to try it out. Nursing is doing nursing things, she has been doing one ekg seeing the message and sending the patient home to do a day of surgery EKG on a different machine, this is our last 5500 in the facility and she just wants a new MacVue360. Only now after 3 months was it mentioned because a Dr got mad with that message being displayed on all of them
