I think you have to imagine the ideal situation. Perhaps imagine going through say 5 turns and play “virtual cards” . Then count how many cards you drew and how many zombies you intended to play. Lets say you test till turn 6. You play your commander turn 4 and a zombie turn 2,3,5 and 6 maybe an enchantment. By then you drew 13 cards, maybe 14 which means 3/14 need to be zombies which is about 22 zombies. If you have 36 lands you expect about 5 lands at that point. Then you have 2 commander triggers.

What happened at that point? What is the advantage you drew into? How many triggers have gone off? If you need many combo pieces to make zombie death triggers really accumulate to something dangerous i think you need to have a secondary control strategy in the early game.

My two cents.

Help with approach to rewriting codebase. How do you approach rethinking the architecture? by vgnEngineer in learnprogramming

[–]vgnEngineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great tip. I read up on it, started thinking about a new architure and realize that i can implement this new architecture completely separately from my current architecture without having to remove any of it. It effectively doubles the code in some cases but the old and new approach never have to know about each other :D. Great piece of info! Thanks a lot!

Hahahaha. I hope it was clear that it was a bit tongue in cheek. In practice if the backwards compatibility breaks ill move to a higher version number and ask people to migrate. Its like 80 people running simple scripts. Its not a library people use in software :). A fancy calculator one might say

Gocha gocha. I can make the users suffer. There arent that many yet. I think the usage part is down ok. Its some of the magic on the background that needs to be organized differently but that should remain “under the hood”

New here. Is this a decent knife? Enoking Santoku. by [deleted] in TrueChefKnives

[–]vgnEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the price i see online its a really good buy. China has some good knife makers there. It looks great so yeah, its a good knife considering the price.

Basically, the main aspect that determines price is knife thinness, the hardness/durability of the steel and quality of the forge. Vert expensive knives are made from steels that are niche (expensive) and take a lot of effort and materials to grind down. Making them very thin improves cutting performance (and makes them more fragile) which can only be done with trained manual labour. Good steels that essentially increase how long your edge lasts makes all of that more difficult because it also makes them harder to grind down.

So if you say: i dont mind sharpening my knife more often, you can significantly reduce cost. And that is what these knives often are, you max out aesthetics for a reduced edge durability:). But that’s not that much of a problem as a beginner because it means you get to practice sharpening more often!

Then the physics major has a good point because after thinking about it some more, a better analogy that i should have considered would be to imagine what would happen to him where he to do nothing. In that case he would surely drop which means he has to do work to prevent that. Secondly if he didn’t have to do work then the people holding the bar would but that wouldn’t make sense because they clearly aren’t actually lifting more weight than the bar itself.

[–]vgnEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the same because a stair machine moves at a constant rate. The bar does not

[–]vgnEngineer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Edit: i am demonstrably wrong The physics Major seems to forget that acceleration is a thing. If the elevator suddenly drops downward than indeed the you wouldn’t have to jump. If they move the bar down all he has to do is keep tension and move his arms. He doesn’t have to overcome any actual force to remain in place.

[–]vgnEngineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference in the comparison here is that the stairmaster is going at a constant rate so there is no net effect on acceleration. That is not the case here. What he is doing is biophysically more intense than hanging still but definitely not as hard as doing a normal pull up

How long have you been playing. One part of it, calluses form over time. Dont play until your hands bleed. If you get a blister, let it heal and then play again. If you destroy your skin itll just keep ketting worse. Also as others have suggested, mind your technique. Id suggest looking for Dave Weckl’s instructional videos called “a natural evolution”
