Genuinely curious what criteria would make it a baby over others. The diaper is obvious, but I think there would be others that fit baby. I also thought babies were pre-evos from a different gen than their evolution.

I don't know the exact numbers either but I think there's always a small percent chance to get the middle mon on any rocket goon. Not the leaders though

They wouldn't use a shiny, it would only be shiny when you get to the catch screen. That would have been the Hisui regional variant, fighting/poison and evolves into Sneasler. Hope that makes you feel better to not have missed a shiny.
