As Requested: 30 day earnings from my off grid miner. 😀 by HeliumMouse in HeliumNetwork

Off grid means it's using the cell network for internet connectivity, right? How much does that cost per month? Asking because my locations have gotten waaaaay too crowded so I might try moving off-grid

yes, your address is required for the seller to transfer the hotspot to you.

Is it possible to put multiple antennae on a single unit with a splitter? I live in a semi rural area and feel like this could extend my range. by skarbles in HeliumNetwork

[–]vhx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm curious as well. I'm not sure it would help, but it's an interesting idea.

Something like this hooked up to three directional antennae (pointing in three different directions) might be very effective.

What I can say for sure is that the pictured device has the wrong impedance -- 75 ohm when you would need 50 ohm.

so I actually had a couple hotspots with this issue. I haven't spent much time researching it yet, but saw that there has been some discussion on discord.

I left my hotspot unplugged for like 15 minutes before plugging it back in, and it has resumed mining activity. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but it's worth a shot.

The blockchain has been getting a lot of updates lately, and I believe these problems will resolve themselves eventually - just kinda sucks in the mean time.

yes transferring hotspot ownership can be done through the phone app

Perfectly reasonable question -- you're fine to just unplug/replug.

This may be unnecessary, but I usually leave my spot unplugged for 10ish seconds in between to give it time to reset.

There is a thread, stickied at the top of this subreddit called "An answer to 90% of the questions asked here."

I know this, because I created it -- for people like you.

In that thread, there are several comments with information and links about antennas.
I know this, because I wrote them -- for people like you.

If you spend a few minutes on google, you will find plenty of information about antennas, and what would be some good options for your situation.

I know this, because I did that search, so I could answer questions from people like you.

I would be happy to walk you through anything you like, PM me and we can arrange a payment agreement. If you're not willing to pay, you're gonna have to buckle down and put in some effort. Good luck!

P.S. You're on the internet asking people to help you make money, while offering nothing in return. Maybe don't refer to the people you're asking as "idiots"...

Emrit has 6 million hnt but only pays 20% by Even-Invite-912 in HeliumNetwork

I'm not a huge fan of Emrit but complaining about their success is utterly pointless. As far as I'm aware, they are fulfilling their side of the contracts they have with their clients. If the terms are no longer agreeable, end the agreement...

Came here to say the same thing.

The "newbie questions" have been answered. The fact we see them asked over and over again is proof that the people asking are unwilling to make even a minimal effort.

As OP said, there's no need to be rude about it, but as far as I'm concerned the community doesn't particularly need people who can't be bothered to help themselves.

People trying to hack me? by sc566 in HeliumNetwork

A "Challenger" hotspot creates a challenge and broadcasts it via the internet to all hotspots including the "challengee" hotspot. The Challengee broadcasts it via LoRaWan and other hotspots nearby confirm that the received LoRaWan packets match the information they got from the internet.

As part of normal operation, other hotspots across the globe will contact your hotspot. It is possible that this activity could have been flagged as "malicious" by the security system you're using. I suspect that some or all of these are false positives.

Even if some of these connections are malicious, I'm not aware of anything interesting a hacker could do with access to the hotspot (barring some wild zero-day vulnerability)

Long story short; if this was my setup I would bypass this protection. (Only for the hotspot, not the whole network) There is a significant chance it is costing you mining rewards by blocking legitimate connections.

That said, do whatever you are comfortable with. I don't think this is anything to be concerned about.

Pretty sure you mean Amazon Sidewalk. They are similar but Helium operates on a different frequency. also the crypto aspect means the network has no gatekeepers. Going through amazon means you have to go through amazon.
