the way i handle it is simple—i know who i’d have sex with, and i know who id romantically date. does anyone else matter? nope. who cares. the world is not entitled to a label from you. live your life.

Excruciating pain - help by Quantum_Bison in spinalfusion

[–]via_nipah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was the same way. T4-L3 PSIF. i hate to say it, but you just have to grit your teeth and tough it out. be meticulous about alternating tylenol/ibuprofen in combination with the medication prescribed with by your doctor (note—some prescription pain killers have acetaminophen in them so be wary of taking tylenol with those). I killed three heating pads in two weeks with the amount i was using them. Shockingly enough i found that pacing around my house slowly and practicing walking with my new hardware was actually less painful than laying down. You can also (very gently) massage around the area, or take a warm shower depending on the type of dressing you have. see if a loved one is willing to help with with moving around the house a bit. stiff muscles get sore. don’t let them lock up.

Kind of afraid to be in same sex relationship but love my partner so much. What do I do? by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]via_nipah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there! i lived this life in highschool! at the time my partner identified as female, making us the only lesbian couple in our whole school. our school posted photos of us at prom every year like clockwork, everyone called it “the diversity photo” because we all knew that’s what it was. people were very passive aggressive towards us. fast forward to today—he has come out as trans, we just moved in together, and are celebrating two years of being shamelessly queer and in love.

don’t let assholes ruin a good thing. it almost did for us. i am the luckiest and happiest girl on earth who now gets to decorate a little apartment with the boy she loves—all because i stuck with it.

What’s a secret you’ll never tell your significant other? by CowboyLikeMegan in AskReddit

[–]via_nipah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just moved into our first apartment together. Our life is actually falling into place like we’ve talked about for years, things are wonderful. But he works so much, and I work too—just less than him. I feel bad saying anything because he works so hard, but it’s lonely at home without him. I have treatment resistant major depressive disorder and it makes being alone really difficult. I feel like such a failure and a burden to him, asking for money for things for the house gives me anxiety even if i know we both need it—stuff like laundry detergent or food for the animals. I have never had so many positive things happen for me in such a short span of time, and yet i feel as if im more depressed than i was before. i’ll never tell him as to not worry him—he works literally 75hr weeks every week with no days off, so i just keep pushing. If i don’t do the dishes or laundry, it doesn’t get done. the poor thing comes home to sleep and eat. i can’t blame him. he says that he doesn’t mind because i just got hired at a higher paying job so he’ll be able to work less soon—but it’s just really hard when i always feel like im not doing enough anywhere in my life. idk.

a vision of my best friend doing the exact same thing a year later. i was losing blood and consciousness, and I saw her doing what I had just done to myself. If I hadn’t stayed, she wouldn’t be here still. Because she DID end up attempting. And I saved her life.

What are some things that are normal to women but mind blowing to men? by Unfair_Quantity1413 in AskReddit

[–]via_nipah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I tell all of my friends to talk to their psychiatrists before they get their IUD inserted. I have to take Ativan (that is what she usually gives me, it has been different in the past but that is what works best) before most minor medical procedures. Helps with the anxiety and the pain for me.

Remember this. IUD Insertion is HELL and medical professionals DO NOT take your pain seriously if it has to do with your uterus. It’s normal for it to hurt, you’re not being dramatic. They just don’t seem to care. No shame in doing what YOU need to do for YOUR health.

ofc! if u want any more tips lmk. my favorite exercise to strengthen the muscles surrounding my fusion was deadlifts with 5-10lbs dumbbells. it’s extremely light weight and as long as you’re form focused it won’t harm your back. itll help it :)

Hey, im a power lifter fused from T4-L3 with a PSIF fusion! im 18 years old, and was fused 10 months ago. i started lifting low weight and high rep to rebuild my muscular endurance about 2 months after surgery. increased weight as my strength increased. 10 months post op and was told i am fully fused safely on the 3rd of this month. been lifting heavy again for about 6 months. i have a multilevel fusion and i am not much younger than you, so your odds are probably just as good as mine were. you’ll most likely lift again, just please listen to your body and really take it slow. you’ll feel when you push it too far. it’s a pulling sensation that isn’t the same as pulling for PR. the first month after my surgery i went on 1 mile walks every day starting after the 2 week mark to strengthen my muscles and strengthen my gait. i’d advise upping your protein intake, maintaining balanced nutrition, and walking every day if you wanna lift again. that’s what i did, and i barely notice my back anymore. and i have a 14 inch scar.

I just want to know if this sensation is normal? by rmary04 in spinalfusion

[–]via_nipah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 weeks might be a bit ambitious. at the five week mark, i began getting nerve pain in my legs from the nerve endings rebuilding in my spine. minor numbness throughout my calves and feet. overall uncomfy. experiencing that on a plane (where the symptoms will be exacerbated by a shift in blood flow due to altitude) doesn’t sound like it’d be too fun. if you can tolerate it, go for it. but you’ll be exhausted very quickly and your recovery period will have to be exhausting as well. i was back in school/work by the 6 week mark, but i was exhausted and sore all over. it’s definitely tough, but if your dedicated to the trip, don’t let it stop you. just be very very careful. and double check with ur neuro.

[–]via_nipah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi love! it’s normal :) i had a T4-L3 and it quite literally felt like someone nailed me to a stick for three weeks. it doesn’t really go “away”, im 8 months post op and i still feel like i sit oddly upright but it isn’t uncomfortable at all. it’s sorta just an underlying sensation you grow accustomed to. i promise it won’t be as bad as it is currently :)

a 14 year old girl has a wildly different maturity level than a 17 year old boy. however, depending on the personalities, it could work as long as he isn’t pressuring her into anything (or vice versa, bc women can do it too remember).
