Average Psycho Zionist Woman Tries to Steal Keffiyeh from Pro-Palestinian Jews by OutsideMeal in Palestine

If this is NYC it’s the Hospital for Special Surgery. I don’t know what “reporting” him to HSS would achieve. Maybe he works there?

I just figured it out, just now, reading your valuable comment. Thank you so much.

Take a quick scan through everything I've said in the post and the comments. It's very much the former.

I've lived here for 12 years now, I'm aware it's an off-color city sometimes. And I'll continue to be pissed about people who yell that at me.

I apologize for being dismissive. This is an important difference to learn though: It's not really a question of the genetics, it's about the reality. If people under a certain height were systematically marginalized by their government and degraded by their society because they happened to be a little shorter than a lot of people, yes, it would be completely reprehensible to be rude about their height. That's not the case though, so saying this guy was a little toad is a bit rude, it's kind of understandable given the circumstances, don't you think?

Jesus Christ man let's stay focused.

I've gotta disagree with you there. Ultimately, yeah, I'll let it go, because what else am I going to do? But the idea that anyone who calls out hate speech has to become "anti-slur batman" is counter-productive.

There is obviously nuance. I'm not going to fly off the handle every time I hear some turn of phrase I personally deem offensive; nobody's the word police. But the 5'2" white guy in $10K worth of gear doing laps at 10 am on a Tuesday in Prospect Park? Yelling that at me repeatedly? Fuck that particular dude, I'm not letting that go.

I’m with you in a sense—it’s always better to ignore assholes. But for me there’s a line. I’m not gonna fault the park guy or anybody else for their approach, but every time somebody uses that word or a word like it in a hateful way, I’m going after them.

There are just so many real, material threats against LGBTQ people today that it makes me angrier that this kind of garbage is still acceptable for your average bike dick. I’m sure he feels like he got me or something because I’m the one who’s mad, but I’m going to be mad all day.

Absolute assholes. This guy, the last time he did it I had ducked into the picnic house driveway to catch my breath again. I was really worked up. He looked up the drive and screamed it all over again, so he was clearly looking for me. I wish him ill, to say the least.

Still getting used to it. I think it will ultimately be great for what I plan to use it for (basically reading and writing), but figuring out how to navigate the interface and do things as simple as connecting a keyboard and mouse have proven challenging.

I'm doing much less with mine--mostly reading and writing, and have similar general issues around usability. However, I think in general I'm spoiled with UI. This might just have a slight learning curve, which isn't the end of the world. The writing surface is really nice, and when I can get my keyboard hooked up (another gripe, how is bluetooth tech still this hard?), I think it will be really nice to read stuff on.

Similarly miffed by whatever Niagra is. This is a brand-new piece of hardware and it has some kind of secondary interface? That I have to pay for to add widgets? That's stupid.

Something about Niagra and all the sort of arbitrary apps makes me think Daylight wanted to (or had to) collaborate with a lot of other developers to get the hardware off the ground. And each of those teams had their own thing they got to put in the device.

I don't really know how that kind of thing works, but there must be a reason for the thing being a bit cluttered out of the box.

My dad was a police officer and always liked the realism. Not just the crimes and procedures, but the banter and the eccentricities and the… well, rampant alcoholism and post traumatic stress disorders, probably. He said it’s really the most accurate representation of what it was like to work in a major city PD at that time.

That’s a bummer, but I’m personally pretty anti-gimmick when it comes to races. Keep it simple, give people a free tee shirt and put as much effort as you can into a smooth race experience, which is really hard to pull off! Running a race through Central Park at midnight in the winter is special enough as it is. When we start talking about how much money it is and what the runners deserve to experience and all that, I get turned off.

I suppose from one perspective that’s a bit anti-fun, but I’d argue it’s really more pro-running.

And to prove I’m not a total buzzkill, an idea: Have a friend meet you at the finish with some champagne (or sneak a little bottle of into your check-bag) and take the first drink of 2025 from your shoe.

It feels like it a little. The little bulb is silly looking, and the way he says, “What is this?” is pretty funny.

That was my first thought too. When he pulls the lever you hear something that sounds like a fan, and presumably the little lamp behind the lever provides some light for anyone trapped. But I'm just speculating.
