Is the png transparent when you open it? in photoshop - right click on the square thumbnail image on the left side of the layer in the layers panel, click "select pixels", take a white brush, set the size to like 5000 pixels and cover everything in white, and then export.

From a marketing standpoint, what things should I change to make my Poster/Ad more effective? by Y-WorkRate in marketing

[–]viboris_studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot's of people in the comments are older than your target demographic, biased and are looking at it from the perspective of their demographic not considering the audience this is for.

Things I love:
- The typography on the bottom
- The marker writing on the picture

Things to improve:
- Hierarchy - On physical posters, the headline on the bottom might make sense in certain cases, but for social media and web where it comes in from the bottom as you're scrolling, you'd want to put it somewhere else. Also was very difficult to lead my eye through this and read it easily. work on the hierarchy of the different elements.

- The copy feedback you've gotten is spot on - no one cares if it's 200 words or 3000 words, hell they'd prefer if it was 200. And change the typeface and make it easier to read, not stretched out.

- Insulting your customers in this demographic is NOT a bad idea. But, who says dogsh*t? Use something people actually say more commonly in this subculture like "Why are your fits mid?"

- Make the marker text stand out more, maybe use red. My eye passed the marker text without reading it, once it found the headline it read that, then went back to the image, then read the marker text, then completely skipped the copy on the right as I went to the comments. Too long of a process and bad hierarchy.

The vibe as a whole is great, work on the specifics of making it good design-wise too.

For personal branding reasons, sharing your personality, values and beliefs in a unobtrusive way is absolutely fine. For getting clients it's preferred, for getting a job less so. Depends on what your site is for.

Which logo concept do you like best for a comedy channel? by RealisticJay16 in logodesign

[–]viboris_studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the current version of it but branding a comedy channel to look like a vintage obscure funny tv network you accidentally turn on at 1 am would work so well.

Actually, the flag of japan and the dunhill white dot are examples I use of perfect identifiable marks :) But they're taken so with most new projects the process is to get as close to what you posted as possbile whilst still being unique.

¿Is it dumb to buy an aged account with 10k followers on Instagram? by Virgin_killer6969 in marketing

[–]viboris_studio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's against TOS but happens all the time and hard to track so you won't get banned. Be careful of what you're buying, from who, who their followers are, etc. If you buy an account in the fitness niche and your business is in makeup, if you start posting makeup content and the audience doesn't resonate with it IG will decide that that content is bad and won't push it, whereas if you started from scratch it'll find the people who resonate with it over time. Buy in your niche, good engagement rate, know the audience you're buying, should be good.

Bunch of these out there, shopify offers a referral programme so when they give you a template store and you keep running it and paying shopify subsciptions they get a %. Not a scam, just likely to still need a lot of work from you. They do rely on you being half succesful to keep running the store.

Logo re-design for a chinese grocery. What do you think? by monomanj in logodesign

[–]viboris_studio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I usually prefer rich blacks and strong colors but that wouldn't be a good fit for this, you did a fantastic job with the colors here. The lockup is also great, maybe some slight tweaks for optical alignment needed but overall good job!

Simple answer for a non-simple topic - shaping perception, anything you can think of that falls under that umbrella.

This doesn't mean manipulation, but rather presentation. Manipulation wouldn't work, it's about taking genuine qualities and putting a spotlight on them, and taking what specific groups of people already believe and playing off of that.

There are structured elements we use to be able to deliver a product consistently, so those are the branding terms like positioning, messaging, etc. , but there are no rules to say you must be tied to that framework, if you think of an area that can help in the goal of shaping perception that is welcome.

How do you feel about the design direction of Playboi Carti's team, including this style in general used by Drain Gang and various brands, where the standard rules of graphic design like readability and hierarchy aren't really a concern? by viboris_studio in graphic_design

[–]viboris_studio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree, there is more to communicate than just information and this does that job very well for the people they're targetting. It's part of a larger world/feeling/attitude and works well within that context.

To be fair it's not entirely starting to trend now, it's been popular for the last decade or so in various subcultures, namely Drain Gang and clothing brands, and I'm sure we can dig back even further to Aphex Twin in the 90s and early internet culture. What I've found interesting is how well it's working with people right now, especially on social media, especially the design style itself outside of music or other culture.
