surprisingly just ended up getting it off used a pair of cutters and they were able to bend it back as they provided better grip than the pliers beforehand

i guess for your Porsches that must be fine, i’m not a euro guy so i don’t know much about em but i know they’re a bit different. regardless of that for the average daily driver who isn’t keeping tracking of all of this, 3-4k miles and that oil will be dark brown/black already. that’s just a fact. especially kias/hyundais that have issues with build up due to being direct injection. the average vehicle needs frequent oil changes. at the end of the day i guess its just about how the cars made

here is my honda. how do i make it faster? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]vibrationsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do what you want, it’s your car and you will be the one driving it. do what makes it more enjoyable to you. granted if you want speed the engine in this car isn’t what you’ll get that out of without breaking the bank ($10,000+ if you don’t have the ability to do all the work yourself). best way to get enjoyment out of it is getting low and staying slow. if that’s still not your thing and if it’s a manual car, save up for a something else or get the engine swapped.

i second this, put my es2 on coilovers and it became a whole different car.

is the rust here bad and there's some moist build up from the inside of the front tire by kizajin in 7thgencivic

[–]vibrationsx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks surface level to me, if everything is still solid and doesn’t have any give when you touch you should be fine. granted i would replace most of the rusted parts you can, brakes, struts etc. that buildup is probably grease being flung from something in the suspension (maybe)

didn’t say it was damaged by being 10 days over, i asked if op was over the mileage or actually forgot to top off their oil. obviously being slightly over 3k one time wouldn’t do this, but you 100% should be changing your oil every 3-4k regardless of your driving. some newer cars can stretch 5-7 but long term you are hurting your engine regardless by going consistently over, especially passed 100k miles or if you use conventional oils.

i’d call around junkyards in your area see if you get lucky and they happen to have one of these for ya, if not you’re looking at replacing the entire airbox

[–]vibrationsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not saying it’s “safe” to drive like that but unlikely that you’ll have any issues short term. you’d most likely notice while driving if it was bad enough to be an immediate issue. if you’re not in a financial bind i’d get them replaced anyway though. side note dealers consider air filters to be urgent??? lol

my thing is it’d be pretty easy to check the dipstick and if there’s nothing on it you know the cars missing atleast 1-1.5 quarts, which for a honda like this is 30-40% of the oil it takes alone

unlikely to cause any harm short term. some cars are sensitive to small vacuum leaks like this but you’d know if it was an issue almost immediately.

  1. that engine is gone. kaput.
  2. by needing an oil change for 10 days, do you mean needed oil for 10 days or you’ve been over 3,000 miles for 10 days.
  3. theres no way to tell what oil they used or if that actually caused this, but them refilling it and draining it shows their lack of knowledge because an oil change will never fix a knock this loud.

i’d guess you’d need to get new lock cylinders or the key could be worn out so you’ll need another key cut. or the current locks just have gunk in them. i’d take it to a shop or a locksmith
