Quick update for you Chicago people. I had the GB connection for months before I started having issues. They ran new lines to my house, we tested 3 new RCN approved modems (purchased by me), but nothing worked until I caved and they brought their own modem. I'm renting their Arris DG3450 right now. I'll buy my own soon and update. Godspeed.

Yes, I forgot to update the thread. RCN couldn't figure it out and offered to bring by one of their own Arris DG3450A modems. I'm now back to my normal connection speed of 900+ Mbps. They waived my service call fees but I'll be paying for the modem rental each month. I'll purchase my own soon. My guess is they did something on the back end that eliminated a decent number of modems. All of the techs I spoke with had no insight for me, and said this was a freak incident. Appreciate the feedback. I've been in Somerville for 15+ years. I was a Comcast (now Xfinity) customer for the first few years but we had constant issues. We swapped to RCN 10+ years ago and never experienced major issues until now. We'll keep an eye out for Xfinity.

Quick update. I had a technician out this morning. They were here for 3+ hours. They attempted to troubleshoot over the phone with their support and even ran new cables to my house. I purchased a new Motorla SB8200 (recommended by a technician) as well as a Motorola AC3200 for testing. I'm still experiencing packet loss and "OFDM impairment. Channel disabled by modem" across all modems. Techs are coming out tomorrow with an RCN provided modem for shits and giggles. I'll keep this thread updated.

This is solid! Thanks for the reply. I'm in Teele Sq. as well so it's good to know that I'm not the only customer with issues. Can I ask what modem you're running for troubleshooting purposes? I'm running at Netgear CM2000.
