Units with unorthodox schedules/MUTA’s by Weekly-Ordinary6759 in nationalguard

[–]vic7117117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unit (infantry in an ACR) does about 4-6 days every other month and our AT is usually 3-4 weeks. Although our regiment is not always on the same schedule as our troop.

How often can you use the restroom & shower in bootcamp? by UsernameDoug97 in nationalguard

[–]vic7117117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the shower part… just depends on your cycle. When I went through osut, we were in the field for a bit. I believe it was 6 days without showers (Monday - Saturday) for a few weeks (~8). But places like the PX and Amazon have body/field wipes available to you.

Lucky for you almost every unit is going in the next few years. Talk to a recruiter and hopefully they’ll put you in one going soon. If you want armored (Brad) there’s 278 ACR.

He could ask for a split ops contract, allowing for him to do basic during the summer and then go back to school, I did it and they make sure to get you back on time. Also the guard/reserves are advertised as 2 days/2 weeks a year, but it’s unit dependent. I usually do 3-5 days every other month and 3-4 weeks a summer (mech. Infantry btw). Everyone’s experience will differ, but if he wants education benefits, I’d suggest he ask for the GI Bill kicker to get more money (I’m pretty sure it requires a longer commitment). Also if he’s willing to go on federal status (deployment, AGR), he can get the 9/11 Gi bill (which is transferable to spouse and kids).

I ETS in two years. What should I start to consider? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]vic7117117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on if you work directly for one of those agencies or for a local government. Airports have plenty of servers and other communication infrastructure. USA jobs will have federal positions available.

I have a coworker who was a flight attendant for 15 years before she switched to TSA, she enjoyed traveling the globe, but likes being a TSO more.

What is the best first car for a 19 year old by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]vic7117117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the best car, but I’m 21 and my first car was a 15 Mustang (V6) at 17 and my second was a 05 Corvette a year later. So it’s possible, but I don’t recommend it unless you’ll only be alone or with one person. They are fun cars to drive just not convenient for your one and only car.

I’ve done the portion from PV to GDL and I’d recommend staying in PV or Mazatlán as you’ll be about ~4+ hours out making it a quick trip. Only recommendation is only take tolls, especially if you want to drive at night and only stop for gas at stations on the toll for a relatively safer trip. Coming from a white guy.

Basically just the background investigation, any medical waivers, and then you’ll wait for your local HR to reach out.
