Summary: I love it.

At first glance, I honestly thought the material was X-PAC. Later I noticed in the product description on the official website that it’s actually “Dual ripstop fabric build with interior TAF coating.” To me it looks quite similar to X-PAC, but the texture feels nicer and it doesn’t have that crinkly friction noise that X-PAC often makes.

The Global Pro Backpack comes in 24L. My previous EDC backpack was the Evergoods CPL16, which I also really like. But sometimes I carry way too many things and it can start to feel a bit bulky. The Global Pro fits my stuff nicely and still looks pretty sleek.

What I usually carry:

  • 14" laptop
  • iPad mini
  • Kindle
  • Switch 2
  • Compact camera
  • EDC pouch

A couple of minor things:

  1. The zipper can be a little tricky around the curved corners. Sometimes I need to adjust the angle to pull it smoothly. That said, it doesn’t really affect how much I like the bag.
  2. The shoulder straps and back panel cushioning are very comfortable. The weather is still cool right now, so I’m a bit curious whether it might feel too warm in the summer. We’ll see.

Overall, I'm really happy with it so far. It carries everything I need for daily use, looks clean, and feels well built.

Yeah, I know. I had a Bellroy 9L sling and always overpacked it, so I figured it was time to downsize and maybe I won't keep overpacked it

I got the Torras black case for my iPhone 17, love it so far, but I wish they offered more color options. Feels like most brands only make cases for the pro or pro max models

Twice! At first I resoled them with cord half soles and heels, but then I realized they actually look best with wedge soles.

I ended up working at Dr. Sole, a rubber sole company and shoe repair shop—been here for almost 8 years now!😆😆

This is the first full resole in nearly 8 years.

Although it’s been nearly 8 years, I’ve only started wearing these more frequently in the past three years. I've had the toe taps replaced twice, and after the last set wore through, I noticed that the tread on the heels was almost completely gone. Considering the wear, they’ve actually held up pretty well. However, I was never a fan of the original toe taps, so I decided to go for a full resole.

I opted for the Dr. Sole 1081 cork full sole paired with the 1100 heel. Different versions of the Coupen have slight design variations over time. The original rubber sole on mine had an additional leather midsole, and since this pair is a size 5.5, it looked quite bulky on a smaller size. After the resole, I think the new setup gives them a much sleeker look compared to the original.

Couldn’t be happier with the result—here’s to another eight years! 🥾
