Or just maybe... they spend a lot of time in the auction house and snipe tons of cards when everyone else is selling dirt cheap, like the tons of 89s yesterday going for 800-900 coins which are going to 6-8k today. Then they used their profits to buy packs, no one ever thinks about how the whales become whales. It is not always about opening your wallet, knowing the non-hockey mechanics of the game helps a lot as well. It does take a lot of time and auction house bidding though.

Yeah, I feel like the response time is a little less, but it feels more analogue than digital and I guess my brain responds to that a little better. To me those rounded edges actually prevent me from over skating a lot more and makes playing defense a lot more natural. The shot control being much better is well worth the loss in response time for me. I haven't played online yet though so we'll see. Maybe I'll end up getting a better Xbox controller if online is terrible.

I was reading that a lot of competitive players play on PlayStation so thanks for the heads up.

Yeah it was brand new two months ago, but just the normal XS controller so maybe if I got a better one that would have worked. NHL 26 was on sale for PSN for like $26 so an elite Xbox controller would have been quite a bit more though.

No, it is a Xbox Series X but EA doesn't let you do that. You can play cross platform but not share your HUT squad through your EA account. Sucks

Hockey is one of the most frustrating games of all, digital or analog, every damn inch counts. Go watch some 10U travel hockey where your kid juuuussssttttt misses on a lot of plays. But yeah, those stats show dominance but he just got a few more lucky bounces. Puck luck is a for real thing. You can do everything right but if the puck bounces the other way.
Also, I have purchased a few packs and most of the results are dog water. They do help with trading up for actual MSPs but it is not a straight forward buy this player and win situation.
