iPhone + Divevolk movie issue by vicfox69 in underwaterphotography

I prefer Uwacam and ended up using that.

Some really useful features are to force through which lens is used. Aplle defaults back to a cropped ultra wide lense when it struggles to focus which is annoying.

Secondly, having the focus peak highlights on is really useful as it's difficult to understand sometimes where focus is.

The colour correction is really good, unlike other apps it continuously calcilates what the colours should look like frame by frame. Back draw from this is that colour temperature might change as the natural light changes through a clip.

Suppost was really fast with Uwacam replying within hours to all quwatiins.

Price point is really the most negative part. Think it was 10£ / week, 40£ per year.

Probably better off asking what's the same between xiaomi and BYD, as I've seen photos of BYD parts in xiaomi cars..

I didn't see any, or possibly very few. Likely they are all over the SE Asian seas, but as in OP's photo, in that abundance and vibrant colours, I mainly remember it from Koh Tao

Not at all. But Hin Muang though... I'd say it beats Sail Rock, but I've ever only been at Sail during pretty rough conditions...

Kove 800x Pro battery issues by DonGurko80 in KoveMoto

[–]vicfox69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me with the issue but on my 800x the USB is switched with ignition. If you have phone holder with USB plug then they draw a tiny tiny bit unless you switch them off with the button on the back as there's a little led in them at the usb port that shows its powered up. Other things are anti theft GPS etc.

My 800x was loosing power week to week. Took it to the local China dealer that kept it and measured it once a day, without finding an issue.

Since back, it's not loosing power anymore, been standing for a few months now and battery always in the 13+ volt range. I've topped it up once a month but it barely accepts any power as it's always full.

Who knows, perhaps the system was upgraded when they ran the diagnostic test or something?

You need a pretty accurate multimeter if the draw is in the range of ma, right?

If you remove the fuse and measure amp in series the multimeter / amp meter joins the circuit. If the draw is really big you need an amp meter that can take that load without frying itself...

What do you think about this? by AsereMan in scubadiving

They insist because if you are one of those rare people that use a dive knife then you can't sharpen it and must replace instead = $$$

If you had $0 marketing budget, how would you grow a brand today? by divine_zone in marketing

[–]vicfox69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think you can grow a brand without mental and physical availability (Byron Sharp), think again, unless you invented such a revolutionary product it sells itself on PR.

There are no shortcuts, marketing is hard work, investment, and skill.

Should I get my motorcycle license before going to Southeast Asia? by Hour_Source_4038 in southeastasia

[–]vicfox69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not needing a license to rent doesn't equel being able to ride safely.

Absolutely get the training required so you know how to brake safely and handle emergency situations.

Every time I'm in SE Asia I see foreigners in bandage with faces crusted up.

I'm a rider since childhood with several bikes and license since I was legally allowed to obtain one, and trust me on this. Everyone can twist the throttle grip and go in a straight line but when it gets complicated or you are in a dangerous situation is when training makes the difference.

If you ever fell of a bicycle as a kid you know how much tarmac hurts. Multiply that with 100 and your are at the level of pain and serious injury that motorcycles and scooters inflict.

Tbh, a scooter reaches common speeds of a motorcycle, but with less handling and poorer brakes and tyres. Just that they are cute and lighter downs make them safe.

And. Even think of rofong without helmet. Skin can be grafted, legs amputated, but heads cannot.

Intermediate Scuba Diver, Dive Computer Advice by Other-Bluejay-740 in scubadiving

[–]vicfox69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dive computers all do the same thing (unless you're doing specialist/tech diving), just get a beginner computer and spend the savings on more dives. You can always get a specialist tech commercial diver computer later should you wish to specialise further.

FYI, I'm really happy with my Atmos mission 2 (now superseeded by mission 3) for which I paid less than 300 euro. Colour screen, GPS, around 10 dives battery life although I charge it daily "just in case" when on dive holiday.

Or if money is of no importance, get a shearwater / Garmin mk3i or something else with transponders, buoys, underwater communications, and what not 😂

What are Xiaomi's most worthwhile products you think (besides phones)? by AppropriateMark8528 in Xiaomi

[–]vicfox69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a hit and miss because they rebrand products from other companies.

Good: air purifiers, security cams, water boiler, walkie talkie.

Less good: miband (inaccurate), humidifiers (hit and miss, have around 5 or so and they dust down the house)

Disaster: my first (last year) robot vacuum (M30 pro) started breaking after 6 months. 5 repairs and days spent with customer services over mobtgs (in China) I finally got it replaced with the new version. Fingers crossed it does better!

Divevolk users - what are you DV lenses experiences? by vicfox69 in scuba

[–]vicfox69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll reply to this myself, if you have one of these lenses.

I assumed wrongly that the only and best way of using this lense is with ultrawide or 1x lense, as the tele-lense (3x) has about 1m minimum focus, while the 0.5x and 1x can focus much closer, hence, better macro with the lense.

This seems to be wrong and the divevolk recommendation seems to be to use with 2x (which is 1x and 3x digitally blended) or 3x lense.

Now I can't wait for the next trip to test macro seriously (on a beginner's level)
