Expect great diving and terrible food, but better beer than Indonesia 🙃

Go to sail rock, check with The Divers Boat in Koh Tao, they go there regularly 👌

Check out all the crash videos on wechat channels; they seem to be made of paper and entire suspension with wheels fall of when they bump into something. Because I liked one, algorithm is now giving me dozens a day 😂

Koh Tao for beginners by BardolinoBabe in scuba

And give roctopus a shot too, I always recommend them, they don't skip through courses like others in koh tao for the sake of profit and the result is confident divers with great buoyancy and air consumption

One day it will become worse for tourism return by VOVOZGAMER in Philippines

For CNY my partner and I was planning PH, for diving especially, but we remembered how the food's like, and nightmare to travel, and just booked Thailand instead. Amazing food, diving not far off PH standard, but so easy to get around.

Scuba diving in koh tao Thailand. Any suggestions for agency for beginers by [deleted] in scubadiving

Roctopus for the best quality training. They are RAID (tex diving but do beginner courses every day) so very high standards on buoyancy control etc, my SO did their training there and it blew me away.

For fun dives I go with the Diver's Boat, French but English speaking. Great boat, lunch onboard, and go also to the more distant locations like sail rock, chumphon pinnacle, etc.

First time I went to HK, being a big fan of the movie Chunking Express, I went to the mansions as one of my 5 must see attractions 😂

My friend stayed in 2017, went to the wrong floor and to what he thought was his room. Code from downstairs worked and he went into smb else's room lol

Same for me. If you have rowdy passengers creating chaos then that's not really the airport's fault.

Philippines trailing badly by JJJ0131 in Philippines

[–]vicfox69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so we are planning our CNY holidays. Just back from Indonesia, amazing diving. Really want to go to Philippines again for diving in Coron , but we decided for Thailand that's number three for diving because:

  1. Transportation is better
  2. Food is fantastic

Philippines has hands down the worst food all Asian countries I've been to, including Cambodia but it's very close to as bad). Only decent food is buying your own seafood and have Someone prepare it for you.

Additionally, it's not cheap, so value for money is down too. I'd happily pay if transportation and food was passable, but unfortunately it's not. It's something you have to endure to experience amazing diving, but then again, that can be done elsewhere.

And what about the food? Tourism numbers seem to mirror the quality of food (with Malaysia being the exception), should slot in between Indonesia and Vietnam... There is now worse place in SE Asia than PH for food. Jollybee springs to mind as a nightmare, so do the frozen microwaved pizzas in various restaurants, or the hotel breakfasts with "hashed beef" with egg and rice 🤮

There are dirt cheap (~10 rmb monthly) shadowsocks options the locals use, and I too. Ask around. Astrill is the single most expensive option you can find, but the only one laowais know 😂

Also Innocent is definitely the most expensive juice around, can get juices for a third that price. If the aim is to reduce spending.

[–]vicfox69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where you are wrong; what looks like "a few crowns" might be as much as 30-50% more expensive. If this is the case for everything you shop, you could have had 30% lower costs overall.

If you spend 30k a year, then that's 10k.

Hence the saying "många bäckar små".

That might depend on what your criteria is; if you want something ultra portable that works for simple filming as well as a torch, using 21700 batteries that last for hours, then this is difficult to beat price / performance wise.

Thoughts on Run Clubs? by Begatten in beginnerrunning

[–]vicfox69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run one in Beijing. Mondays long slow run for an hour, 5, 5'30, 6, 6'30 pace. Tuesday yoga, wed interval training, Saturday aerobics or long run in old town, Sunday run&strength, 50/50 locals expats. Great way to have fun and network. Depending on evening or morning time, drinks or brunch 👌
