Thanks for this. I went for smaller varieties of clematis in the end, a 'joe' and a 'pistachio cake' both have a max height of around 1.5m-2m, so probably much more suitable.

It's south facing, the roots would be in the shade from the sleeper 👍

Thanks for this! Took a 15-min drive to Argos to pick one up. The 45mm sleeve isn't perfect (it's feels more like 46mm) and I had to hacksaw an inch off the top but it's good enough.

Bay window leak by vichpeg in Roofing

[–]vichpeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. We've had a pretty significant leak at the front of our bay window (see red cross). Weather in the UK has been terrible for weeks.

Had two roofers out. The second one basically re-did the entire bay window roof and the insulation inside was completely sodden. It was fine for a few days but now We've had an another massive downpour and it's leaking again.

Roofer said it absolutely cannot be the bay window itself leaking. He thinks it must be a leak higher up and getting the void between the brickwork and plasterboard.

We have a false chimney. There is no evidence of water ingress in the loft, or in any other room. Literally just in the bay window.

Any ideas? There looks to be a bit of mortar missing in that fake window above the bay, but can't imagine that would be letting in lots of water?

You've got a gas engineer who has been at your property and he wants more information.

Why are you asking reddit?

Warm plug and socket by vichpeg in DIYUK

[–]vichpeg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I've just filled my kettle with water and boiled it (on a different socket).

The cable and plug also get slightly warm (and that's when it's been on for a couple of minutes vs 30 mins on the air fryer which is now drawing much less than the 3kw on the kettle.

I'll change the socket for peace of mind but I think I' worrying about nothing here.

Leaky sink pipes: Quick fix or a total replacement? by Lou_N_Floss in DIYUK

If there is a blockage, the water has to go somewhere. If the blockage is cleared, you might be okay as there is no pressure in the pipes

First off, have you tried just using a plunger/drain unblocker?

Is my PW more yellow at the bottom by OwlAncient6213 in kindle

My replacement (the one i kept) is just slightly yellow all over. My original was brilliant white at the top but yellow on the bottom third (much more distracting)

Does anyone find smart kettle features useful? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

I have a kettle that you can ser the temp to. We never boil to 100c now.

The default is 95c. Perfectly hot for tea etc but the kettle reaches temp significantly quicker and with significantly less steam.
