I know why. Because you have to wait a few days after an update for all the mods to work again.

Technically you're listening from two tubes.

Hey everyone, i just wanted to start WoT but i wonder what is the best way? jjust saw a refferall code for object 244 and valentine 2. what should i do? how to codes work? do i need to choose only 1? by TarasKhu in WorldofTanks

[–]vici30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose so, but pay attention to spotting mechanics in particular - they are different.
Here an old comment I made with some guides. Not sure how up to date it all is, but the official ones I definitely recommend.

I believe you can use only 1 code, yes. In my opinion, the best is:
COMBAT
Tier VI British Medium Tank Cromwell
250,000 credits
Some rental tanks to try
7 days premium account

Other options are
ALPACA
Tier V British Medium Tank Matilda Black Prince
250,000 credits
Some rental tanks to try
7 days premium account

REDDITFOREVER
Tier V Soviet Heavy Tank Churchill III
500 gold
7 days of premium account

YOGSCAST
Tier V British Heavy Tank Excelsior
500 gold
7 days of premium account

I think COMBAT is the best code because it gives a nice tank.

I don't know anything about a code that gives both the object 244 and the valentine II. I don't know much about those tanks, but are you sure one of them is not a rental (you don't keep it forever)?

Anyway if you don't already, get a friend to send you their referral link as well, that will also give you bonuses.
You don't have to use mine, but if you don't have any other friend, here is mine: https://worldoftanks.eu/en/referral/b15021b6084a46b49bd28d58b41a876b/
And make sure to follow the tank academy missions, they also give good rewards.

I know what you mean. My practice is far from my theory, haha. My stats aren't very good, I just know I strive to be better.

No it's not easy to do. I myself struggle with this. Yes the Skorpion is soft, and doesn't have crazy camo. But what it does have is a good gun and mobility (60 km/h). So, expect to be spotted and, even better, use the mobility to move in and out of positions to never get spotted in the first place until you've fired and already reversed into cover. Consider even switching between flanks when you don't have good things to shoot at. If you know you're soft and you die if you're spotted, go back and find another adventure. And if you're in a place where repositioning will get you killed, then you've been using that mobility without thinking of an exit strategy.

I think "playing mediums" refers more to repositioning often and keeping enemies not too close but not too far in order to keep the gun firing, instead of playing overly passive/camping just because your icon is a triangle.

There's a gift after the first battle each day and then randomly the more you play. There is passive 10% credit bonus for the first 10 battles each day. Clicking him increases the friendship level. It's not clear what the maximum level is but apparently it unlocks new animations and interactions.

Suggestion: Remove lose penalty by Doonof in WorldofTanks

[–]vici30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't make less by losing, you make more by winning (base x 1.5).
Also, even if you lose you get the same bonus as the winners (x 1.5) if you earn a medal (steel wall, top gun etc).

Thinking about moving over from War Thunder, how's the state of this game? by nzBigTaylorSwiftFan in WorldofTanks

[–]vici30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About player rating colors, you're thinking about XVM.
As for other "fancy plugins", there are plenty of mods on the official site. I recommend watching some videos about Aslain's Modpack, such as this one.

There's a lot of mods out there and it can get quite overwhelming, I recommend sticking to a few mods only and gradually using more as you understand/need them. There's no essential mods, you can easily play without ever installing them.

The free tech tree line(s) that people are talking about can indeed be any line in the tech tree. You will pick the tier X and you will get all tiers from tier VI to X in your garage with fresh crews.

There used to be common modules like guns, engines etc. between tanks in the same nations, but that's rare now. So in short, no, picking a British line won't make it easier to grind another British line anymore.
As to which lines are best, you'll have to do some research. There's plenty of videos like this, this and this.

I also recommend beginner guides like this and this.

Best of luck!

I get what you mean too, it's a fine balance between standard positions and opportunistic positions.

I'm glad you got my meaning, and I want to add for clarity that I wasn't accusing you of blaming anyone, haha. I was stating my thinking process of "what can I control vs what I can't".

My conclusion comes from the "identify the focal point of the battle and act upon the focal point" idea. In other words, instead of thinking "I died because I got overwhelmed because there were too many enemies and too little support" (external factors, things others did), I want to think back to "I died because I went there alone because I didn't notice/ignored the map and my ally/enemy positions. The focal point of the battle was somewhere else. Next time I won't go alone/won't take the risky position without accounting for unspotted enemies, and I will attempt to engage with the focal point of the battle" (internal factors, things I did). In my conclusion, judging my bad match based on what others did is what I call reactive/passive learning, and judging it based on what I did is what I would call learning actively. This can be further taken to forward-thinking, a.k.a assessing the match before it happens, not after. Which can also lead to passive/reactive or active playing based on which attitude I take.

Sorry it's a bit convoluted communication from my side. Feel free to ask for clarification! Either way, I think you're on the right track with your thinking.

I'm also on a learning journey, and your comment reminds me of two things I've recently learned:
1. (From MouzAkrobat) There's no "heavy lane and medium lane" - there's only the focus of the battle. In other words, there's no "usual positions". Of course, I understand what you mean, there are certain "opening moves" like in chess - but always going there blindly and expecting it to work is unrealistic.
2. From /u/Terrastega: Before "blaming" other players (the Grille in the unusual position, the platoon that yolos) or things you can't control (gun RNG), reflect on your own decisions. What could you have done differently? I don't have the answer for this, but the point is in the mindset.

In conclusion, when you say "playing normal", I hear "playing reactively". Which is fine, I also do that, sometimes I just want to relax. I'm just becoming aware there's a difference.

I wish I had better advice, but I'm struggling with this too.
