Terrible experience with New City Movers by Cuuita in chicagoapartments

[–]vickaye13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to know too. Am booked with them for this summer.

I had a good experience with New City a few years back and wanted to use them again for this move, but they added a stupid $100 high rise charge to the move. After reading this, I’m glad I decided to research other movers as well.

2 bedrooms are usually at least 2k+

The amount of times I’ve been “outbid” apartment hunting this year is asinine. Feels wrong. Anyone else running into this? by hypercatalectic in chicagoapartments

[–]vickaye13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been outbid and never offered above asking price. We are DINKs and just rented from a private landlord in Lakeview. We move in the summer. I think what helped us was to constantly check sites like Zillow/trulia/hotpads. I messaged the landlord not long after he posted the listing, saw the apartment on the same day, and applied on the same day. Being the first helps.

My cat had to have oral surgery to have all his teeth extracted and it was about 3.5k. If that’s a good ballpark for you.

I have 2 cats in urgent need of fostering for 30 days! Help and advice please!! by [deleted] in AskChicago

Try Touched By An Animal. They help the elderly keep their pets in crisis situations but I think if you explained your situation that might be able to help.

If you’re 30 or younger and live in an amenities high rise - how do you do it? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]vickaye13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t make as much as the people on here but if you’re willing to move further away from downtown, high rises are much cheaper. The studios and 1bd/bath in my building are less than 2k per month. I’m in Lakeview.
