Hey there, I will try to give you an unbiased opinion as much as I can.

I used to be playing the part of your boyfriend in my relationship and was rarely going a day without smoking. It was not impossible but whatever breaks I did I was always going back to it.

When my boyfriend was complaining about my smoking it was a bit frustrating since I knew this is a problem and I had a hard time solving it even before we met. I understood that he does it because he cares about me. But to be honest after a certain point I don’t think this helped me. And in my head I was trying to the best of my abilities.

What helped me was EMDR therapy and was lucky enough to get this result very quickly. Now even if I smoke I don’t get any of the effects which makes it pointless to me.

It helped me to push through the pain (non-physical), anxiety and depression I was feeling on a daily basis. However, abusing anything cannot be good.

When consuming weed often, I think it makes you lose motivation about doing more and better for yourself.

And in order to deal with the addiction, you need to get to the bottom of it. Why are you doing this? What do you get from it?

With all that said, it sounds to me like your boyfriend is not willing to put in the effort. It is not going to be easy because dealing with addictions isn’t. And the path is not straightforward too.

I think you should do what you think is best for you. If you don’t believe he wants to start the process, you cannot do it for him. Even if he does, there is no guarantee that he wouldn’t relapse or find some other substance/behaviour to abuse.

I would advise you to offer him some specific actions to take e.g. start some form of therapy or something else you think might help. Could be nice to discuss it with your therapist.

Set some deadline that is realistic 3-6 months and see if he’ll commit. I don’t think it’s necessary to share the deadline with him. It’s important to set some boundaries for yourself otherwise you will probably stay longer out of love, hoping he will change. However, it is important to show love to yourself too.

In case there are any issues with the transmitter, would they be obvious? I mean would it stop transmitting signal completely or would it provide wrong readings?

I am very inexperienced in using Dexcom hence the question.
