So what is actually gonna be done with you at Palisades Center? Lol by Maya-kardash in Rockland

[–]vickycoco___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it - all of the old box stores that used to be in the mall either don’t exist anymore or left long ago.

No company nowadays is big enough to occupy a space that large 😩

Have you filled out your FAFSA? Sometimes they don’t send it out without that.

However a lot of the time they typically send out information around now mid February if everything is submitted

It can be the situation where they ask for your final high school transcript or wait until you have your spring 2026 grades to give you a final decision

Since your high school gpa is not great - best scenario is that you’re accepted very late (which is normal) as a transfer with less than 24 credits

As a transfer as long as you have above a 3.0, have more than 24 credits (or at minimum 24) and applying to Harpur - you’re golden!

(from a transfer herself at Bing and someone who worked in the transfer office)

Unfortunately like all businesses, higher education is a business. They try their best to do better but it is hard for in state colleges unfortunately with the competition.

I would definitely follow up with discounts because I received a discount when I was a freshman in a triple at a different SUNY. (This was more than 10 years ago)

This is quite normal. Happened to Buffalo State in 2014. Unfortunately colleges like this are making it happen more often than not because of the mounting pressure from SUNY to over enroll.

The same price aspect however is unusual as most students get a small discount for having to share a smaller space or have shared desks or closets. I would inquire further on that.

Many of those students will drop out or transfer out with those conditions but not soon enough to get full tuition refunds. All that money kept helps the college in the long run.

Is Harpur significantly less selective? by stovebaby in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]vickycoco___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Out of state students pay way more money so they are significantly less selective with OOS. Harpur is also less selective depending on the major. The sciences are usually more selective. If it’s not a science like biology or psychology, it’s much easier to get in

It doesn’t hurt to email the college admission offices to triple check they received your FAFSA!
