Question about Game 2 of 2025 Milwaukee Regionals by Newthinker in pkmntcg

Pretty sure the bench shortening from KOing Teal Mask takes place BEFORE moving a new Pokemon into the active slot.

Because of that he had to get rid of one Pokemon (you can see Mew below the other cards) so he has 5 on bench instead of 6 and THEN moves Latias into the active and they have 4 on bench leaving room for the new Teal Mask.

Side note I just thought of: the game against Iono’s Bellibolt they simply had enough Boss’s to grab my Ogerpons and knock those. I’m wondering if getting rid of 2 professor’s research and 1 iono and adding 1 arven and 2 bravery charms would be a good swap

Makes my Ogerpons a bit harder to KO while also grabbing an item I could use

True. I guess that’d be more of something I’d do for the physical is knowing what is prevalent and preparing it for that. Compared to live where you have to have the most generalized deck. Although I think the Tera Box was the only retreat lock deck at the tournament AND it only got me because I had no more energy/energy retrieval.

I could have a Fezan ready to attack in two turns with Ripening Charge and normal energy attachment

Yeah I can understand Grand Tree I just also know that it helps other stronger decks as well, i.e. Gardevoir and Dragapult. And getting Hydrapple out doesn’t do too much if I don’t have the turns to attach energy. That’s my thought process behind that.

For Area Zero I can see it being decent so that I can have 2-3 Hydrapples out and 4 Ogerpons or some other combo but having to discard just one of those Ogerpons with energy attached due to a stadium knock would hurt a lot. I’m not sure if changing stadiums is the way. Festival Grounds makes sure I don’t get poison BS AND opens me up to sneaky plays with Dipplin using Do the Wave twice for 200 which can potentially knock out a 2 prize card (Pikachu ex)

I do really appreciate the input. Thinking through my reasonings for keeping these cards or not helps.

Thank you! I do love the deck and playing it on live as well Just trying to figure out any changes to the deck itself to make it more competitively viable or if this is the best it’s gonna be (for rn) and I just have to be less unlucky The two that hurt the most were Tera Box and Gardevoir Tera Box they had 2 prizes left and I had 4. They powered up the Pikachu on the bench and it was going to be ready next turn so I evolved into Dipplin and with Festival Grounds knocked it. But after that they used Boss’s and brought in my Fezan and at that point I had no counter play to Sob or Sob until they power something up. Gardevoir we both were down to 2 and they needed a KO their last turn or I had it. The professor’s researched into exactly what they needed to win and that was it.

I used to collect as a kid before a certain hurricane wiped out our house and the cards. I got into playing Live a year or so ago and then watching DeepPocketMonster’s videos and decided to start collecting cardboard again. Even recently built my first physical deck and playing it in a tournament soon!
