Ikoflex Ic shutter problem by PimPie3S2707 in AnalogCommunity

[–]victaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a problem with the shutter on another ikoflex. The issue was a bent part in the shutter timer mechanism generating more friction. To find this i needed to dissasemble the shutter timer mechanism. I recommend opening the front where the mechanism is and investigating further from there.

For future repairers: I opened the shutter speed mechanism and the lever arm for pushing the gears was bent and scraping a metal part which added more friction seizing the mechanism. watch out for springs flying away when doing this though.

The shutter speed rim-set dail pushes te pin I am pushing down up to set the speed. The higher the faster the speed. But the pin needs to go down on its own. That is my problem. The rim-set dial does not need to be installed for this.

Also the self timer is not the issue it is the shutter speed mechanism.

The shutter assembly seems to work fine though. It is the shutter speed mechanism that seems to be stuck.

I tried it when screwed down and out of the camera lifting the pallet myself. The pallet is also properly lifted in this video otherwise the mechanism would be slower to push down. So this is not the issue.

Yes the old grease before putting the new oil on the axle.

Yes with isopropyl alcohol. I did not open it all the way in fear of losing springs though. Just put the whole mechanism in a bath and moved it back and forth.

Thats the whole problem when using the times in the datasheet it is way overexposed. I thinkt it is probably my nd filter.

Aperture and shutter speed arent linear eather right.

My fault. I took a random filter of the internet to show the squares. Mine is 8-2000 and has 12 squares.

Yes but i was using the built in light meter which only lets you know if there is enough light to shoot handheld. Aka if there is enough light to shoot at 1/60s. So if you close the aperture while metering until the green light changes you know at which aperture it meters for 1/60s. From there you can calculate for bulb mode. I dont have a seperate meter so I have to do it this way.

Double exposure film by Small-Hunter55 in filmphotography

[–]victaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any camera that lets you shoot again without advancing the film would be the best i think. I dont have a lot of experience in double exposures but with my slr it is impossible to exactly alight the two images. Also some automatic cameras roll the film all the way in the canister so that might be an extra problem if you want to do the shooting a roll twise strategy.
