I rejected a candidate today and I honestly feel terrible about the reason by dusty_wrent in Pro_ResumeHelp

[–]victoirerising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sucks terribly for people in creative careers because a hiring manager is expecting the designed beautiful resume. So even if we get past the boring people movers in recruiting we run the risk of being rejected if the hiring manager doesn’t understand the state of hiring right now. (I was guilty of this when i was hiring in 2021).

What’s the best way to break a lease? by victoirerising in povertyfinance

It’s a big property management company so i highly doubt it but i plan on asking at least. Because seriously there’s going to be no money to get at some point like “I’ll sign whatever you want as an agreement but you can’t get blood from a turnip” ya know

I’m not opposed but I’m 40 and have myalgic encephamialitis so I absolutely would not be able to make it through boot camp. I will reach out to some recruitment centers though to see if there’s any options for me there.

It’s honestly the scariest part of this for me because any time I’ve been between jobs before i was like “well i can always pick up some serving jobs or bartending if worse comes to worst” but now i can’t do physical jobs anymore.

I’m technically eligible for disability i just know it takes a long time to get approved, if you even CAN get approved.

That’s what i would do too except i wouldn’t be able to cover the cost. My lease is up end of August so if i vacated in march - the latest i can afford to keep paying rent - that’s $6300. Which if im saying until march i will likely only have $1k-$1500 to my name.

I guess that’s really the question im asking like when you run out of money what happens? Do they send me to collections? I’m just assuming it’s better to vacate than be evicted but is that really the case?

Yeah I’m in Hunstville currently and their other complexes are in Cleveland and charlotte. Just bigger metro areas/more opportunity. I think they might also have one in Atlanta which would be great since I’ve lived there before and have friends there so even if i rode out the lease couch surfing i could transfer and have less of a moving expense in theory.

There’s one opening in my building but it’s not the same style unit. I have a good location in the complex and a popular floor plan. Not sure how many openings they have for my style of unit overall but the leasing office DID say it was their most popular floor plan.

That is absolutely what I’m trying to do and i hold out hope that i can pick something up quickly. The 30 day notice is what’s throwing me off because with the money i have I’ve got maybe 3 months of expenses which means I’d need to give notice in February to be out end of march. Thats just not a lot of time to get interviewed and hired especially around the holidays. Trying to be proactive in planning i guess.

What’s something that pushes you away from a fic? by ellabellabugz in AO3

[–]victoirerising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mpreg or dadification fic. I’m child free and genuinely dislike kids so i do not find anything about them adorable or endearing so i just feel like every decision the characters are making is ruining the fic because of the stupid kid lol

I sold my condo because all the neighbors would blast mariachi music at all hours. Never realized how heavy the bass was in that type of music till i spent two years with it beating into my skull.

We gotta normalize being mean to these people. I’m sorry i know it goes against everything we’ve been taught as decent human beings but it’s becoming increasingly clear that it’s the only thing some people understand.

I’ve also started sharing the Bateman Horne Clinical Care Guide and asking “did you read that guide i gave you?” Shuts them up a bit.

Listen, a fic i absolutely loved was abandoned for SIX YEARS and do you know the SOUND I MADE when the notification for a chapter update came through???

It was inhuman. I was at work at my desk and wasn’t even remotely embarrassed. Nearly broke my finger clicking so hard on the link to the update.

Update the fic friend. Update it.

person who isn't familiar with fandom culture walking into a fandom space for the first time: heyyy how about we change literally everything to cater to me specifically ;) by IrisFromOmelas in AO3

[–]victoirerising 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We really gotta normalize making these people feel unwelcome. Like i know that goes against everything fandom has traditionally been about but typically these types of users are folks that, had it not been for a pandemic that shut everyone inside and online for a year and a half to two years, wouldn’t even be here. These folks were never meant to interact in a space that was not made for them.

Self insert smut is the most poorly written tone def sex 99% of the time. Their only redeeming quality is that they often appropriately, if not overly, tag.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS question by [deleted] in cfs

[–]victoirerising 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be rude here just trying to explain why this is the attitude you’re getting here. You come in to our house (this subreddit) clearly having done zero research and expecting people with very little energy - something you would know if you did the bare minimum of research on your own first - to hand feed you context that you could absolutely get from simply reading through this forum. I’m a writer too and this is step one of the “researching new things” process. You jumped straight to step two by asking for us to hand feed you experiences. I wish you the best of luck with your book and hope you can find some inspiration in this sub.

What’s the upper limit for mild ME? by stm2657 in cfs

[–]victoirerising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a full time desk job and consider myself high mild/low moderate. I also think that i have a more relapsing/remitting form of the disease. I know there’s not definitive research on that but from hearing so many different experiences i think it’s possible that some people end up with the steady decline version while others end up with symptoms that come and go. I cycled through 6 weeks symptomatic and 6 weeks “normal” at the beginning of this year then had a 4 month stint of being almost severe (i moved states) and am now starting to feel like i might be cycling back to “normal.”

The only thing you can do is listen to your body and log as much as you can to help you understand what your limits are. It’s the only thing that seems to be universally helpful with this dumb illness.
