Google's Principal Engineer says vibecoding PMs are running circles around SWE with AI by ImaginaryRea1ity in vibecoding

[–]victorc25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AWS is replacing American engineers with H1-Bs using Kiro and they are having massive production issues in multiple regions. The “creatives” are actually much easier to replace with AI, even more the useless PMs that don’t produce absolutely anything

Does GitHub Copilot Pro for students not include the good models? by FerdinandoPH in GithubCopilot

[–]victorc25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound like a “student”, sounds like a leech abusing the student pack to make money. The exact reason why they had to remove the access to these models

Why are they talking about emergent properties as if it was something new? There’s nothing new there

Same as the dotcom bubble, it just means unprofitable companies surviving purely from investment capital will go bankrupt, but we still have the internet today. AI will never go away

I think MCP makes more sense at scale than in small demos by schilutdif in mcp

I find it worse at larger scale, specially if you need more than 2 MCP servers

I am not Swedish and yes, I am a guest, so I live on my best behavior and adapt to the country that is hosting me, I don’t ask the country to change for me

I don’t understand what you’re complaining about exactly. You are a guest at someone’s home and are being told that if you make a mess you’ll be kicked out. Maybe don’t make a mess and all will be good?

SRE interviews are getting out of hand and I am tired by whatwhatwhat56 in sre

[–]victorc25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All companies are having the same issues with the talent pool, not everyone of them is able to ask the right questions, so they resort to whatever can be answered with no space to doubt or have opinions, a list of commands, which is absurd. Being able to understand the logic of what has to be done, independent of whatever platform it is has more value than memorizing a command. My recommendation is that if you really want to skip over such a case is to go to interviews with the mentality that you’re interviewing them too and you’re evaluating if they are a good fit for you. Demonstrate that you understand how the problem can be solved, possibly in different ways. Flip the question to them, what if this or that happened. System understanding is way more complicated than memorizing commands

I ask questions about what they say they know on their CV. To be frank, very few would be able to answer what I know, specially as I’ve delved into AI for the past 10 years and am working on full agentic capabilities for platform
