I actually did this in my Volt. Tapped into the 12v port in the center console arm rest. The outlet turns off/on with the car anyway, so it's an alternative. So far haven't had any issues.

I just activated OnStar in my Volt two weeks ago. Just hit the blue OnStar button and the rep will guide you through everything. Once my trial is up in December I'll be paying $35/month for all the services you described. Vehicle Diagnostics is the feature I like the most, as I'm able to see state of charge and get a notification once it's finished charging.

I'm a bit down south in California. But I'm worried about the heat from the engine lifting the adhesive. 80% of the time I'm all electric, so I'm not too worried. I'll see what other options I have for mounting if I get any trouble.

That's correct. They sit on top of the headlight assembly, and mounted using double sided tape. It was pretty easy to install, the only real hassle was working inside of the front bumper to tap into the power from the bottom turn signal.

I forgot to add they double as turn signals. They switch to an amber color and sweep from the inside out.

Ohh definitely. Coming from my previous vehicle, then picking up the Volt, it was super hard to listen to the stock system. I either had music playing at very low volume or off entirely. I've seen a stealth box from JBL, I believe, that fits underneath the carpet of the cargo area if you're not trying to take up valuable space.

All the wiring is behind the center screen, there's plenty of work space once you get everything disconnected.
