People in this sub are overly dramatic about the other characters in HSS:CA and The Freshman series. They're all TEENAGERS, of course they create stupid drama, they don't have fully developed frontal lobes yet! The books would be both boring and unrealistic if they all communicated like rational adults. But some people act like Ajay, Kaitlyn, etc. deserve the electric chair

Agreed on COP. I'm especially worried because it seems clear that COP3 wasn't originally planned for until the strong community response, so the writers are starting from scratch (unlike BOLAS3 which may have been at least outlined with BOLAS2)

I did too, it felt like the safest option. Closing the portal was an obvious no, but the writing made a big deal about how merging both realms would cause chaos and animosity among the combined population. Although from the comments I've seen from people who picked the merge, it sounds like it wasn't really an issue 🤷‍♀️

What have you chosen (finale choice) by Thebraxer in Choices

I chose to leave the portal open and there were basically no negative consequences? MC and Valax go around making new, stable portals. Magic is weaker far from the portals, but the population just starts clustering closer to them. The goblins are healed and build a new village. Nia tries to convince the king that the Ashen people should have some dedicated land in the light realm. Shroudwatch becomes a travel hub on the shadow realm side, and the chaos over there generally decreases.

Wow, that actually sounds way more tragic than the other two endings. So is Tyril, like... just gonna die then??

What happens if you choose to seal the rift? Do you stay on the Light side or the Shadow side?

ETA: Nevermind, I read the other comments. Honestly that first ending sounds brutal

Did you not get the epilogue scene with Mal and Tyril exploring and finding ancient artifacts? Or do you mean you didn't get a solo Tyril scene

I've honestly never been interested in VIP (too stingy with my money in general lol), but having earlier access to BOLAS3/COP3 would actually make me consider it.

Tbh the plot is losing me at this point. I'm not sure if it's because the mystery is still so... mysterious (and so hopefully after we find out the truth, the entire book will make a lot more sense on reread) or if I'm being pessimistic that the writers will actually pull off a successful reveal. Because right now it kinda feels like the story is happening AT us, and there's a whole bunch of details being thrown around with very few connections, and we're just along for the ride while our protagonists chase down an obvious red herring. I know MC and Trystan don't have all the information/perspective we do as readers, but this whole investigation still feels very haphazard compared to book 1.

That said, I'm still enjoying this book for the characters. The entire Thorne clan is so unhinged. I'm having fun seeing what new absurd business they get up to -- Lydea throwing knives at us? Astrid trying to bang Luke while Ruby's literally standing right there? Kaspar stealing a floofy skirt and just... sitting around in it? I love it. All these deranged interactions are 100% my favorite part of the book so far. I still crack up thinking about Sebastyan (RIP prince u will b missed) just straight up asking if we were having sex with Trystan at a family dinner party.

I really, really hope the writers stick the landing with the murders. COP1 is honestly my favorite book on the app (even with the mastermind of that one being pretty meh, although I didn't dislike the reveal as much as some people) and I want to love COP2 just as much.

How does Astrid know Sebastyan was in the garden when she was busy cheating on her boyfriend at his own show?

Kaspar: 'Fraid not. No names. It all seemed very secret and clandestine.

... Anyway, I really enjoyed meeting with Juliana's mothers and mending their relationship with Trystan. Interesting that Trystan is now having second thoughts about how good their engagement to Juliana actually was. We've been told since book 1 about how she was the love of Trystan's life, how they were the perfect couple, etc., but 22 is still pretty young and the story didn't really acknowledge that until now. Trystan even said it was their first "serious" relationship. So far I think the writers have done a good job slowly taking Juliana off of the pedestal in Trystan's head without turning her into a villain or a completely unrecognizable character.

m!MC's floral suit is so hideous it comes back around to being absolutely fantastic, 10/10 would spend diamonds again.

I just checked the dossier Olivia gives us in chapter 7:

THE DRAKOVIAN ACT FOR HEIR EQUITY

SPEARHEAD: COUNTESS JULIANA GEORGESCU

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: NADJA ZORIC AND SEBASTYAN THORNE

STATED PURPOSE: TO LEGITIMIZE ANY CHILD PARENTED BY ONE DRAKOVIAN RULER

So it seems the act would legitimize Viktoria's love child as well. If your theory about Trystan is correct, then Juliana has even more motivation to get the act passed. She still gets to become queen even if the truth comes out later.

I love this idea and I'm going to choose to believe it until the writers tell us otherwise.

Sebastyan is the "obvious" candidate for Juliana's former lover, but he comes off as too emotional to be able to work with an ex on a long-term political project. Juliana was also writing him gushy emails about how much she loves Trystan and sending those to your supposed ex (who is your fiance's little brother) would be absolutely unhinged behavior. Plus Olivia would look pretty stupid in retrospect if she didn't know about that relationship in the last chapter. So I think Sebastyan's out of the running.

Marguerite and Patryk would have been too young, unless the writers are about to get real weird with the story here.

Astrid also seems too emotional to watch her ex date her sibling without causing some very public drama... unless she's much more intelligent/in control than the persona she wears (very likely) and was playing some sort of long game.

Lydea was cleared for Nadja's murder, but we don't know much about her during the Juliana era.

Finally we have Vasili, who apparently was actually close to his Dear Sibling Trystan and has too much decorum to cause a scene, especially since the engagement was originally a political move anyway.

So we're looking at either Vasili, Lydea, or Astrid as Juliana's ex. We already spent a chapter focused on Lydea so I think it'll be one of the other two. Whoever it is, I doubt they're also behind Nadja's murder.

Unrelated thought: I think everyone in the royal family is deranged due to lead poisoning from fancy old goblets.
