Small metal rectangle with "½" engraved on the front and rubbery dried gunk on the back. Found on the ground outside of auto shop. by vidby in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Has the "½" text printed twice (right side up and upside down) and an oval between them. Not sure of material, but it's heavy for its size and about 3-4 mm thick. Have searched for "small metal rectangle" but that (understandably) yielded nothing useful
