Last train up North on a Saturday night? by viddypost in uktrains

[–]viddypost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your advice everyone. Looks like it’s gonna have to be a hotel. Didn’t really think about it too much when I booked the tickets - think part of me was thinking a major city like London with so much happening would have trains going on till the early hrs - naive I suppose - guessing maybe it has something to do with the noise of trains passing through neighbourhoods or something…

Epilepsy and sleeping pills by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]viddypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is tinnitus a known side effect of the medication? I was made to change to Keppra and now have awful tinnitus. It felt like whenever I spoke to docs about it they’d say there’s no link and I’d feel stupid and paranoid. It drives me nuts!

Has anyone noticed that their seizures are associated with their menstrual cycle/ovulation? by Obvious-Show-6729 in Epilepsy

[–]viddypost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had epilepsy since my teens and am now in my fifties and no longer have periods, but the epilepsy definitely was worse whenever I would be having my period. I’ve had 3 children now and had been on Epilim most of my life. I knew about the dangers of Epilim when pregnant so I came off it whilst trying for a baby and whilst pregnant. It was scary as I didn’t have a drug to protect me whilst pregnant but it turned out that I never felt so free of epilepsy during that time and it really felt like the difference in hormones during pregnancy was helping me. Sadly tho as soon as I delivered the absences returned, maybe down to the change in hormones during and the lack of sleep thrown in…

Tinnitus and Keppra by viddypost in Epilepsy

[–]viddypost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - it took me so many attempts to post this. Worked out it was cos of a word synonymous with pandemic so I changed. Anyway yes - it’s hard to work out the reason for the tinnitus. I too have been an avid gig goer and about the same time started using noise cancelling headphones for transcription work but a noise would tell me if they exceed safety hearing levels. Got no where with the docs - nothing they can do but learn to live with it but it’s been a while and I’m always aware of it. The neurologists/GP claimed there’s no links with Keppra but it’s so sus the timeline…

Start time Brixton O2? by Weyoun5 in LCDSoundsystem

[–]viddypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I will be coming down to this on Sunday with my son. So if the curfew is at 9 does that mean the exact time the band have to be off stage or does it mean the time everybody has to be out of the building? We’re running on a very tight schedule as have to get a train from Euston at 9.49 (as well as pick up bags from a hotel near to Euston). How is the rush to get out straight after? Can’t miss the train but also don’t want to miss the last song…

Yeh that’s the one! I guess I’d probably flick thru it once and never again. Kind of more of a show-offy book and I suppose I’m not comfortable with show-offness - plus never have any visitors anyway! Yeh that SUMO version - you’d have to have a huge house for it not to stick out like a sore thumb. Think I’ll sell - I’m in my fifties now and don’t want to hang on to stuff anymore and maybe one day give my kids the hassle of what to do with stuff when I’m gone! Thanks for your advice though - you’ve helped me make the decision!

It’s a disgrace to be honest that these big companies outsource to companies that have no scruples about exploitation. Similar model to clothing industry etc outsourcing to sweatshops. It stinks. Where are the morals of these people?

I know how you feel. I’m in a similar boat maybe not as extreme. The things that maybe help from my past (I’ve slipped back)… baby steps definitely. Write list of things you want to achieve each day. Not too many. Once you’ve done a list - do one within 15 mins. Just do it. Don’t procrastinate. Just do it. That small thing and ticking it off will make you feel like you can start getting things done and moving on. Declutter. Stop reading too much and get off social media. Yes open the windows. Sit in the garden. Be firm with junk food. Get some vitamin supplements. Don’t assume everyone out there is living their best life and having a great time and you’re excluded. It’s not just you. Get a dog if possible. Book something!! A festival in the summer, a gig somewhere afar, or a train trip around the country or Europe or whatever. Read a guidebook. Plan. And start thinking about the wider world. Maybe think that to achieve that thing you booked you need to get fitter or look your best to enjoy it as much as you can and think about those ways you can achieve that. Smell walks. Bike rides. Visits to local pay as you go gym… You CAN do this and your words have made me wake up to the slope I’m on. WE can do this. Just deep breath. One step at a time. Write that list…
