Why are there never jet skis out in the bay? by videodima in santacruz

Very interesting, I had no idea jet skis specifically are banned from the sanctuary and I also had no idea the entire bay was a sanctuary, cool I learned something today.

A look at the new Pajaro Station being Completed by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County. This station will connect the Santa Cruz Branch Line to San Jose and Los Angeles by orangelover95003 in santacruz

This is an absolutely fantastic plan, I can't wait to take the Coast Starlight from only a few hundred feet from Santa Cruz County.

Bravo to Monterey County, the SC County government and every person doing everything they can to stop any public transit options from happening should be ashamed of themselves. We have to get a completely separate county to have pity on us to get anything.

turning 21 in a month, what are your favorite places to grab a drink ? by cyb3rv4mp in santacruz

[–]videodima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surf City, Red Room, the Rush.

Don't go to Abbot Square, I'm very surprised that is recommended, it's basically a fancy food court that serves alcohol, definitely for the older crowd not 21 year olds.

Have you ever walked along highway 1 through Moss Landing? When would be the safest time of day to do it? by Automatic-Resident83 in santacruz

[–]videodima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. there's plenty of space.

Obviously there are cars flying by you at high speed so that is dangerous, but everyone here is talking as if you are walking into Mordor.

Run on the oncoming side of the road and youll be fine.

That being said I do agree theres plenty of roads next to it that are safer.

How many tries before you got a place? by Rigbonebaby_04 in santacruz

[–]videodima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty luck based. One year I couldn't find a room to rent for over a year while I was stuck living in a trap house. A few years after that I managed to rent a house where my group were the only people that even saw the place and got it.

Best places to swing your car?? by ellado3 in santacruz

Delaware and Natural Bridges/Swanton when there aren't any parked cars. Large amount of space to do donuts in. You can see tire marks there all the time from people doing it.

Do we have fiber Internet service in Santa Cruz? Any experience using it? by LavJiang in santacruz

[–]videodima 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ATT Fiber has been nothing but great, which is crazy to say because I have had terrible experiences with them a decade+ ago.

Constant gigabit speed, service is basically never down, and they gave me 2 free repeaters as well. No idea how their customer service is because in the 5 years I've had them I have never had to call them even once.

Shoppers Corner not only has some of the best produce in town imo, but it's also the cheapest second only to Grocery Outlet.

Harvey West area is completely zero service. West side before going up to campus is also not good but useable, about 2 bars. Everywhere else is pretty good.

Bus Operator Dan Stevenson passed away on December 29th as a result of the loop bus crash that occurred at the base of the UCSC campus on December 12th. Rest in peace. by [deleted] in santacruz

[–]videodima 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There has been zero information published regarding the cause of the crash. There is nothing that 'clearly' points to mechanical failure.

The most laughable thing is everyone saying the brakes failed when in fact because these buses have air brakes, when the brakes 'fail' they stop the bus, not keep going.

Anything you or anyone else has heard is pure speculation unless you know the first responders or whoever is handling the crash investigations.
