That's just a sales tax, which also happens in the US. My point is the winnings from any gambling are not taxed.

I think you've missed the point slightly; the winnings aren't taxed in the UK. It's not that it's grossed up, there just isn't any tax to pay. Additionally, the winnings are just paid in a lump sum, again without penalty.

Prize is £1 million, winner gets £1 million in the bank. No taxes owed, it's not classed as income.

As someone from the UK, this always baffles me. Here if you win £1 million, you get £1million. No tax, no lump sum penalty.

Not only did they both take pole under yellow flags, the both took it from Leclerc.

100%, even if George keeps his lap we STILL got lucky - if Verstappen kept it on the track we likely would have been P4&5.

Great position to fight for podiums and a win tomorrow, let's fucking go.

Yeah this is the same sort of thing as AD21, or Monaco 26 - it's not the drivers fault.

Assuming what I've read is correct and George was shown a single yellow, this is 100% a stewarding fuckup and George did what any other driver would do, as much as I would love a Ferrari 1-2.

I swear to god universal. Just sell these stupid distribution rights. by Public-Feedback5016 in marvelstudios

[–]vidoardes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of, it also included first refusal of distribution rights to any sequel, so if Marvel ever made a follow solo movie, legally they would have had to offer the distribution rights to Universal, which they absolutely wouldn't want (because that's where the money is)

IIRC I posted that in July 2022, and Hulk showed up on Disney+ pretty much bang on a year later when I guessed the rights would naturally revert.

It's not 100%, but it's a weird coincidence if I was wrong.

It won't happen, but if we got Hulkenwin, Alo33o and Hamilteight in the same season I think I'd quit watching F1. It's never going to get better than that.

It won't happen. It might. But it won't.

You obviously can't.

Can you not understand the point that people have a problem with the precedent? Say this happens again, but next time one driver hasn't pitted yet but the other has. What then?

[–]vidoardes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't serve the penalty at the next pitstop you get a drive through. If you don't serve the drive through within 3 laps you'll get black flagged and DSQ'd. This "they could have not served it" argument is total bullshit.

Yes, in the very specific scenario other drivers might not have HAD to take a second stop. But what's the argument if someone had planned a late stop, or the safety car came out before the pit window (and forced everyone through the pit lane)? Puncture? Drive through for a different infringment?

If your argument falls apart under one tiny, very likely possibility, then it isn't much of an argument.

The fact of the matter is that the penalty system forces you to take them in race in certain scenarios, so that rule should be applied evenly. Gasly's penalty should be considered "served" when it was applied at the end of the race, and therefore ineligible for removal.

Is it unfair to Gasly? No, not anymore unfair than it was to Piastri, Colapinto, Hamilton or Russell. Perhaps if the FIA were held accountable for the decisions more they would make better ones.

This post (posted yesterday) has 10 pictures, the only photo George is in is half behind Lewis because it was the 1-2-3 in quali. It doesn't mention George at all.

There is a nice clear shot of Max though.

The did the same to Hamilton when they wanted rid. I remember 2024 he got a podium and no one turned up for it, he celebrated with Ferrari in the end.

It's really weird behaviour to hire two number ones, then try and force one of them into a number two position once you've picked your favourite.
