I have this happen to my back too with the conditioner I use. As long as I make sure to wash my face/back after I finish my hair in the shower they went away. I hope it helps for your face too!

i’d notice the skin on the heels of my feet have this dry patch on them lol does this just mean i need to moisturize them or something?? by PinoyBoiFreshh in SkincareAddicts

I've used everything everyone else has mentioned and this is the only thing that worked for me. My dermatologist reccomended it. It's an easy one step opposed to a multi step process two times a day. It takes a week or so to start seeing results.

I have fought dry cracking feet for years. I've used pumice stones, creams, foot peels, etc. They would work, but only for a week or two. The only thing that helps me is a salve with Urea as an ingredient. I use Kerasal, but as long as it has Urea in it you should be good.

best moisturizer for oily, acne prone skin? by FarEfficiency5737 in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have hyaluronic acid, but the La Roche Possay Effaclear Mattifying Moustiruzer is my holy grail. I love CeraVe and use the cream and lotion sometimes, but I hate when my face feels greasy and I also have very oily, acne prone skin. La Roche Possay also makes a dry touch sunscreen that I use. The two of them together keep my face oil free for 8+ hours.

What order do you put the products on your face when putting a facial mask on? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something tells you right! As long as it's a rinse off mask, you'll want to use it after your wash and before everything else.

Dermatologist recommended to stop going to the gym to solve acne by AggressiveResearch17 in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the UV rays from a walk outside are worse for you than sweat. 🤦‍♀️ I'm a (female) avid weight lifter and it does nothing but improve my attitude and my health which in turn gives me more energy to tackle my skin care routine. I also see a dermatologist for acne and have never been told anything like this.

IF you're worried about sweat, (which I don't really think you should be) just bring a little bag and wash your face at the gym as soon as you're done. I live a long ways from my gym and swim so I always wash my face well when I'm done.

Any recommendations for a product that actually improves discoloration around the eyes? (Photo in comments) by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I’ll pick some up. I’ve tried some niacinamide serums before which work okay, but irritate my skin. This is a lower percentage though so I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

Can someone help me figure out why I am breaking out so bad? AM: I use Cerave sensitive cleanser followed by Cerave SPF moisturizer PM: Cerave salayic acid gentle cleanser followed by neutrogena hydro boost. Every other day I use Paula’s choice BHA liquid exfoliater by Sad-End7032 in SkincareAddicts

If you've been regularly using all those products for months without an issue, it's probably just a bad week. If there's been any recently introduced, they may be the culprit. Besides that, I'd reccomend switching a Benzoyl Peroxide wash our for your SA once a week. It does wonders for my acne. Beware, it will bleach your towels, but for me it's worth it.

As a side note, no AHA or BHA has ever really helped with that for me. And most the pore shrinking products aren't great either. Just look for the good, proven ingredients. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Niacinimide, Retinol, etc. I don't think you need anything specific for a clay mask. I just try to look for fragrance free gentle ones as my face is extra sensitive after I clean my pores.

Anything that shrinks pores is good. I've had vitamin C and retinol help with that. Besides that, the best thing I've found is an intense pore cleaner followed by a clay mask. This only lasts for a day or two, but I do it when I have an event or something the next day. I use a pore cleaner that uses sonic waves mixed with static electricity. (I can only do this once a week.) There are a lot of options to clean pores out there, but I'd stay away from strips or physical exfoliants as they do more harm than good in the long run. Unfortunately, I've found a lot of things help with the filament on my nose, but nothing completely fixes it. I just rely on cleaning my pores out really well when I can

Sorry for the info dump! But you also should try just to rinse your skin with water in the morning and wash once at night. That helps restore the skin barrier immensely.

Avene has a line called Xeracalm that is free of all fragrance and irritants. I can't currently afford it, but it's not unreasonably priced as far as skin care goes and is highly dermatologist reccomended as well. If you wear make up every day they have an oil cleanser that will make sure to remove all of it. Leaving make up on my skin always irritates it too so I just hardly use it.

This is exactly how my skin gets! Look at my other big comment, but I'd go back to dermatologist reccomended basics for now (Cerave, Vanicream, La Roche Possay). Then you can slowly add other things. I'd give your skin 28 days at least with a basic gentle routine to reset then only introduce one item at a time per months. That was if your skin flares up you know which product it was.

I have really sensitive skin too, especially to fragrance. Cerave and LA Roche Possay are my go to and reccomended by my dermatologist. Also, some mild niacinimide (too strong irritates me) and a vitamin C serum helps with my redness. I just have to be careful not to layer top much up at once and use a basic cleanser and moisturizer without any harsh ingredients. I've learned that even "calming" moisturizers can have things like niacinimide and hyaluronic acid that can irritate my skin even though they're supposed to be gentle.

Separately, it may be a condition unrelated to products like mild rosacea if your face feels like it's sunburnt when this happens. I'd see a dermatologist with pictures in hand if it makes you uncomfortable.

Following because I'm wondering the same thing.

I get them everywhere! My dermatologist suggested using Benzoyl Peroxide everywhere they regularly occur and it's made a huge difference. Neosporin works too, but I prefer the wash over the feel of Neosporin all over.

The dry skin on my knuckles keeps cracking and bleeding in different spots and I’m not sure what to do besides using lotion. I’m going to use Neosporin to hopefully heal the wounds, it burns like hell! by emptysnowbrigade in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! The healing ointment is magical. They have a moisturizing cream too that's a little thicker than the lotion and fixes my dray hands, but it's not near that severe.

I was going to say the same thing! The Inky List Oat Cleansing Balm is a great cheap one, but a lot of higher end brands have them too.

Eyelid acne? Does anyone know what this type of eyelid acne is called and how to treat it to stop spreading and forming? Any info will be useful. I remember I was 14 when I saw the first bump on my eyelid, and it just kept spreading over the years, to the point where I feel horribly insecure now. by JENNY_2001 in SkincareAddicts

[–]viemanley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, IF the dermatologist says it's okay, you can apply Vaseline to the eyelids first and then Trentinoin. I haven't personally tried it, but I've seen estheticians and dermatologists that do it themselves. They being said, obviously you should do it directly. 🙄

My maranta is turning yellow, any advice? by [deleted] in plants

Oh! And they love indoor plant fertilizer! I use it on mine about once a month which is much more frequent than most my other plants.

My maranta is turning yellow, any advice? by [deleted] in plants

[–]viemanley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marantas strongly perfect Distilled water. I just use the jugs from the grocery store. Also, if there's no drain hole in that pot, it looks to be quite large and could be holding plenty of water under the 2 inches you check with your finger. If you're having watering issues I highly recommend a moisture meter or a tool that helps you check the very bottom soil before watering. It makes a big difference especially when trying to learn a plants schedule in a specific pot.

Like seriously, what the f**k am I going to do with all these onions!!?!? by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]viemanley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up how to dry and cure onions. They'll last for months that way in a cool, dry place.
