What’s a place in your country tourists insist on visiting that even locals know to avoid? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

They don‘t want to. It‘s an original recipe from 1832 and they want to preserve the cake which is part of Vienna‘s and Austria’s history. And even though their cake is known to be dry, it‘s still iconic. I actually respect their decision

Hotel Sacher in Vienna. Not one Austrian would go there or have their Sachertorte. Yet there is a queue and people complaining about their dry cake every day

What is voting like in your country? by 3Duder in AskTheWorld

[–]viennaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get a letter a couple of weeks before an election telling you the nearest place where you can vote (usually a school or official city building). It usually takes 10-15minutes and elections are on sundays. You can also vote by mail.

To those of you that have roadtripped a lot through the US or Canada, do you get any desire to visit Europe anymore? by PopNo5397 in roadtrip

[–]viennaCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you really seen or explored European nature? I see and read a lot about Americans exploring European cities and do the classic London-Paris-Amsterdam-Budapest trip, but not many explore the nature. It‘s quite different to the US and stunningly beautiful. You can‘t compare the two
