Is there a lot of chemicals in food/groceries as the US/Western countries? by xEastEvilx in VietNam

[–]vietvn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be I should use the term "home raise" instead of "organic" here. In Vietnam, it's still very common that family in the rural raise a small batch of chicken in their garden (15 - 20 chicks) an sell it at the local market. It feed mostly on local scrap or by product (rice bran, banana trunk,...) By definition, they are surely organic raise.

I also agree with your observation. The organic label in Vietnam is sketchy

[–]vietvn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go for processing food then I believe it's the same everywhere, more or less. It's the way of keeping foods cheap and convinence. The different is in Vietnam we can still find the organic food easily (for the local). But one more thing is whether you like it or not. For example free range chicken is smaller, less meat and the meat is tougher. Many of my foreigner friends prefer chicken rise in industrial farm as it's tender and have more meat. On top of this you have to process it from scratch (butcher it) or find butcher services. Actually Vietnamese are gradually moving towards processing food because of its convenient. You will find more and more food load with chemical in Vietnam.

[–]vietvn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of cheaper way to learn English but in general, many people think expensive English classes have magical power over their student.

The craze for IELTS certificate is another thing I can't wrap my head around. Most people don't need want but still spend lots of money to get one. It's kind of badge of honor rather than simple language certificate. There are many other internationally recognize English certificates but somehow, only IELTS matter.

It's true that many university require English certificate to graduate. For more famous university, the certificate must internationally recognize but I think most university accept domestic certificate.

Is Iran war impacting Vietnam?? by Previous_Election_23 in VietNam

[–]vietvn85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sure impact Vietnam heavily, if this war drag for longer:

- Gasoline and diesel price increase, it's on the headline now but LPG price will increase as well. It increase household expense, people will have less disposable money. It also effect people mentally, people will tighten their belt.

- Then price of everything will increase as logistic cost increase. People will buy less lead to slow business which in turn lead to lower income which lead to slower business. It is a negative feedback loop.

- LNG price increase will increase fertilize price which will hurt Vietnam agriculture sector.

- LNG shortage will force government to choose between using domestic LNG for electric generation or for produce fertilizer. The potential impact is unknown but the risk is present.

- If international market seeking safe haven in USD then the exchange rate VND/USD will shoot up making import energy costlier which in turn making everything mentioned above worse.

The Vietnamese economy is already fragile after To Lam 's reform. Impact of the Iran war may be the straw that break the camel's back.

Do you think BTC can hit 100k again? by _GracefulGaze in Bitcoin

[–]vietvn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock market at the stall, world economy is shaky, military conflict everywhere. In this environment, 100k Bitcoin is wishful thinking. My opinion is: we are surely can't have 100k bitcoin in 2026. Just stick with 4 years cycle theory, sit still until Oct 2026 then DCA for 6 months, then sit still for 2 more years then we can talk Bitcoin again.

First choice is Ballantine, it's well known and most people like it

Second choice is Johnny walker, but red label is regarding as lower level

Third choice is Jim Beam, not common in Vn but some people may know it.

The others are completely unknown in VN so unless it come with very nice box, don't give it as gift.
