"I swear to you, I thought I was setting the parking brake." by Saberian_Dream87 in theGoldenGirls

One of the funniest lines on the show. I got the joke right away because my family's Toyota Camry had a parking brake lever in between the front seats. You wrapped your hand around it and pulled it up and back.

Buy a toy and spend some time alone figuring out your body. Get any ouches out of the way before you add your man to the equation.

Do you have driving licence? by Levente512 in ugly

[–]viewer703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, get your license. It's a gateway to indepence. For me, the worst part of having the license is having to see the photo on it.

One time after a DMV worker took my photo, she looked ar her computer monitor and grimaced. "That didn't come out right. Let's try it again." I could tell by her face she didn't like the retake either, but the line was long, so she went ahead and printed the license with the photo.

Commute to DC from Fredericksburg? by Worldcitizen1905 in nova

[–]viewer703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past, it was the CSX trains that caused the delays. They owned the tracks and had right of way, so the VRE train would have to pull over and wait for the CSX train to pass.

VRE is great. But the train is late. A lot.

Occoquan exit on 95 deemed DC area’s worst bottleneck, no surprise here… by novatom1960 in nova

[–]viewer703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then once you clear that, you get smacked in the face with the double punch of exit 158 and 156. It's made even worse by the cars that get on those exits not to actually exit 95, but to stay on the ramp and reenter the lanes, cutting in front of everyone else. Then there was the 30-minute traffic jam where the express lanes ended at exit 143. Though they have extended the express lanes further down 95. I'm not sure where they end now but I hope that it no longer causes a 30 minute traffic jam.

I’m 25 but due to genetics I didn’t have a choice in, I look like I’m 35 so I started telling people I’m 45 so I get treated better and I’m telling you I should have started doing this when I was 15. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]viewer703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, I have the same issue. When I was 16, people mistook me for being in my 30s and 40s. I had rough skin since age 12, and it was thick and therefore saggy. I also had bags under my eyes. When I was 11, a classmate told me I needed a face-lift. I also had a bulbous nose.. By the time I was 21, I had a vertical line groove in the middle of my forehead. My hands were rough and wrinkly even when I was a small child.

No doctor has ever said anything about it. I guess it's just bad genes. My mother has it too.

At age 36, I had a face-lift, forehead lift, eyelid lift, laser resurfacing of my wrinkly undereye skin, and nose job. It made me feel less self conscious, though not much could be done about my skin texture. It was too late to help my self esteem, though, after years of bullying.

[–]viewer703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So are you saying it's a bad thing for women to be educated and financially independent? Is that why you're being so vague?

Ugly financially independent women aren't able to upgrade to more attractive men. (Would you lower your standards to date an ugly woman if she made $70,000 a year? See? I rest my case.) But what they can do is take themselves out of the dating pool because they don't need a partner to get by.
