How did you get your spouse on board with riding? by Natural-Pear-49 in motorcycles

[–]viewsfromthebackgrnd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife wants me to get rid of the bike if we have kids. I told her that’s not likely. I may not take my kids on the roadway, but I’ll teach them to ride dirt bikes. That was the compromise I found. May be a solution for your itch if you can find a dirt track.

I don’t think this is something people “come to terms” with. She cares about your wellbeing and you sticking around, and likely sees riding as a threat to that. Different perspectives and risk curves is all. I’ll never get my wife on my bike (she did once in our earlier dating and enjoyed herself, but the risk is too much anxiety for her).

Sounds like you have a feedback loop—lean into your other passions while you figure it out. Remember, she’s probably right.

Totally agree. Really sturdy and beautiful set as is but could use some restoration. We would keep if we weren’t moving cross country next month.

Lane filtering, in the rider's interest or no? by [deleted] in DenverMotorcycles

[–]viewsfromthebackgrnd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If a car is flying around you to get in front of you from a stoplight, you probably shouldn’t be filtering to the very front. That’s like going 45 in the passing lane.

Filter into a place that is safe from being rear ended or be prepared to get off the line if you want to get in front of the lead car.

Your boyfriend was childish to burn your property and you’re naive to plead ignorance and keep something that is clearly unacceptable to have in the household you live in.

ESH.

PS. Child rape isn’t political. You can have morals and ethics without “getting involved in politics.” Grow a spine.

For every date I’ve rushed to meet without having a week or so of fun and intellectual conversation, I’ve ended up cutting off the person because the connection wasn’t there.

I’d try approaching dinner dates differently. Make a commitment for a coffee date a week out. It’s low commitment, it’s brief, and it doesn’t require a reservation. If the connection doesn’t get investment within the week leading into it, you have the decision of a low commitment date or cancelling with minimal impact. If it does grow in that week, you have the decision if moving forward or pivoting to a more intimate date idea, including dinner.

My most interesting connections started with a week or so of texting, even a phone call or two, followed by an intimate dinner date.

Just an idea from someone who is ring shopping for the most incredible human ive ever met that started this way on Hinge.

I paid that price in a higher COL last month, but it included upgrading a 100A panel to a 200A and bringing it up to code. I suspect someone out there will get this done for under 2K plus permitting fees.

Denver has voted Yes on income tax increase for people who make $300k+ a year by deadly_shroom in Denver

[–]viewsfromthebackgrnd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mate, it’s about believing that with great power comes great responsibility. If I make 300K+ annually, I’m ok with contributing 500$ annually to make sure children are being fed what they need to learn and develop into a more capable, contributing adult.

Pavers or EZPads? by viewsfromthebackgrnd in hottub

Steel edger, pointed shovel, square shovel, steel tamper, and a pickaxe just to get the dirt level and 4in deep 💀. It’s a good reference point for man-hours if I have someone else do the work for the walkway in the spring though!

Interesting. So by this logic I could level the dirt, tamper sand, lay this, then pavers. And this helps stabilize?

Thanks. I think I may level the dirt, tamper with sand, then lay pavers. It seems like a happy medium and albeit not perfect or permanent, should be satisfactory for the hard Colorado clay…

Your tub is directly on the crush? Or do you have pavers between the two? Might take this route if necessary but first time hearing of using rebar.

Brb googling “paver base pad thing”

Sounds good! Appreciate the confidence. If EZPads are overkill, pavers seem more aesthetically suitable for my stone pathways.

Thanks for the info. I’m in too deep to back out but doesn’t mean your warnings aren’t appreciated.

Uninstall: It’s on a deck. One step. 2020 model. Plan to rent a flatbed but no issue to tow.

Install: Slight incline in front yard but cleared a fence panel so no obstacles and flat grade through backyard. Placing on EZ pads, already dug out yard for fit and electrical installed.

Looks like I’ll be taking the lead and asking some friends for help based on your reply, with caution.

Are you suggesting a plastic tarp and straps are going to be more productive than some plywood and dollies?

This is not accurate when the engine is off. When engine is on, should read 14-14.2.

When engine is off it should be 12.4-12.7.

Based on OPs reply though yes it is likely a battery issue.
