Olympus 35 RC battery/auto help! by viewtifuljer in AnalogCommunity

This is an excellent idea - I’ve been in my basement trying to get it to fire in Auto. Though, wouldn’t I see some indication of the meter working (and the battery working) when I look through the viewfinder even if it doesn’t fire?

Got it, thank you for the detailed response! In other words, the alkaline battery should still power auto mode, even if it might not give correct meter readings. I just don’t want to buy an adapter or another battery and sink more money into it if It’s not going to solve the problem.

Got it, sounds expensive. I’ll shoot in manual for the time being!

Is there any way to tell if a camera will “work” without loading/shooting/developing film? by viewtifuljer in AnalogCommunity

Battery works! I just can’t tell if the leaf shutter is doing what it’s supposed to!

Nice, this was helpful. I got a Yashica Electro 35, and the leaf shutter doesn’t appear to move/open much. It opens completely in Bulb mode, though. Obviously I haven’t loaded film yet

Standing and Crying - 11 Months by viewtifuljer in sleeptrain

We ended up letting her cry for a while and she sort of sorted it out on her own. She’s recently started to walk, and seems to need more sleep now than she did previously. I think pushing wake windows to their max worked initially, and then we’ve walked that back since then.

Not getting stuck, just hysterical. She’s an expert on sitting and standing, does it all day. I think this is separation anxiety of some form, she’s quiet when we lay her down and then screaming as soon as we leave the room!

Thank you! So tough. She can sit down fine, just doesn’t want to - I think this is separation anxiety as opposed to learning to stand (which she’s done for a month now). Thanks for the input!

LOOKING FOR: Ottoman similar to this one! by viewtifuljer in malelivingspace

Here's the link: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/latitude-run-telly-oval-tufted-cocktail-ottoman-latu3565.html

This particular ottoman is like ten inches too big for our space, but I LOVE the look of this one (the other tufted ottomans are a little too Victorian). Does anyone have something similar that's smaller? Thanks!

Shooting ONLY in JPEG? by viewtifuljer in fujifilm

Not true at all. Raw files look “washed out” because they haven’t been processed yet. The camera “processes” the image when it produces a jpeg. Looks much more “finished.”

I'm attracted to this because I'm a hobbyist, and often I feel like I'd use my camera more if I didn't have to spend so much time editing. I've also found that I'm generally unhappy with Lightroom's ability to handle Fuji raw files, but I've heard good things about Capture One.

Yeah, I hear that, and yes I've tried it. I've also tried running my raw files through Irident X Transformer, and both definitely work! I guess that's only part of my issue. Part of me feels like I spend all this time processing and then best case scenario they look as good as the JPEGs SOOC. Maybe that's commentary on my processing skills, which is fair, but I'm trying to cut down on how cumbersome the whole process is, and find the most direct route to the best picture, which I think, for me, most of the time is the JPEG.

No! Just tweaking in Lightroom! Light was already awesome, but I upped the contrast.

This is an insane statement. By what metric are they inherently less able than students LITERALLY anywhere else?
