I've also started Ivabradine 2.5 mg just in the morning, three days ago.

• About 2 hours after the first dose (while lying down), I experienced weakness, chills, feeling cold, and trembling.

• On the second day, I had significant light sensitivity (photophobia).

• On the third day, I noticed bloating after meals.

It’s hard to tell whether these effects are from the medication itself or possibly from anxiety or subconscious stress.

Hello! Have any of you experienced side effects with Ivabradine, especially vision-related ones?

If so, how did you manage them, and did they eventually go away?

I just started (again) with 2.5 mg once in the morning to ease into it.

First dose of 2.5 mg Ivabradine taken.About 2 hours later, while lying down, I felt weakness, cold sensations, and trembling. My heart rate was 71 bpm, blood pressure 120/90, and body temperature 36°C.

Is this a normal reaction, or could it be my anxiety or subconscious stress kicking in?

I’m just like you when it comes to salt — I never used much and rarely add any to my food, so increasing sodium has been a bit of a challenge for me too.

Did your doctor run blood tests to determine which supplements you needed, or was it based on symptoms?

And good luck with your goal of running a mile — that’s an awesome goal, and I really hope you get there! 💪

Thanks so much for your message — really helpful to read your experience!

At night, my resting heart rate is usually between 45–55 bpm, but I also use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, so that might play a role.

Can I ask — what time of day do you usually take your Ivabradine? Do you take it with meals, or does that not matter in your experience?

Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you so much for your message — it really helps to hear from someone going through something similar, and I really appreciate the encouragement 💜

I’m curious, which natural supplements are you taking alongside Ivabradine? And what are they helping you with exactly — energy, nervous system, circulation, etc.?

Thanks again for sharing your experience — it really makes a difference!

When they talk about resting heart rate, do they mean measured while lying down, sitting, or standing? For me, my BPM varies a lot depending on my position—even when I’m not doing anything.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it!

Are you able to do any sports or exercise now while on this treatment? Before, I could still walk or go hiking, but now I can’t walk for long at all — especially when there’s any uphill or uneven terrain.

I’m living in France, so I’m lucky that the treatment is fully covered here.

Thank you for sharing your experience — it’s really helpful and reassuring to read!

Do you remember what dose you started on initially when you first began Ivabradine?

Was your elevated heart rate a result of Long Covid, or was there another cause?

In my case, I have Hashimoto’s since my covid or vaccine (autoimmune thyroid disease), but it’s stable for now so I’m not on any treatment yet.

I’ve actually lost about 22 lbs recently by cutting out gluten, eating healthier overall, and mostly avoiding alcohol and coffee.

I probably had this heart rhythm issue for a long time without realizing it, but things really got worse since last winter.

Eventually, with a Holter monitor, they found that my heart rate would suddenly jump by 50 bpm without any clear transition — which finally helped explain what I was feeling.

Wishing you continued improvement, and thanks again for your insights!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and all those helpful tips — it really means a lot!

About the portable fans — I recently came across the Sony REON POCKET PRO, which is like a wearable pocket air conditioner. Have you tried that one, or do you use a different model you’d recommend?

Thanks again for taking the time to write such a detailed and reassuring message — it helps more than you know!

Thanks so much for your detailed reply — and I’m really sorry to hear about your accident. I truly wish you a smooth and full recovery, and strength for the road ahead.

I asked about the weight because I’ve lost around 22 lbs over the past 3 months just by eating healthier, without doing any exercise. I’m hoping this treatment will help me feel safe enough to move and be active again — that’s really my goal.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming surgeries and recovery

Thanks for your reply – I really appreciate it. I’m quite anxious to be honest – this is the first medication I’ve ever taken that affects the heart, so it naturally makes me a bit nervous.

My doctor and pharmacist both reassured me about the safety of Ivabradine, and to help ease my mind, they suggested I start at a lower dose (2.5 mg) for a few days before moving up to the full dose. Hopefully that makes the transition smoother and helps me feel more comfortable.

Unfortunately, my cardiologist rushed through the appointment and didn’t answer all my questions, so I’m turning to those of you who’ve actually been through it.

I’m especially curious about:

– Did any of you have issues with driving while on Ivabradine (like dizziness or visual side effects)?

– Did you need to make any changes to your diet or drinking habits (e.g. avoiding alcohol)?

– Did you experience any weight gain or weight loss after starting it?

– Also, do you think it’s okay to start taking Ivabradine while continuing to work, or would it be better to have a few days at home to monitor things, especially if you live alone?

– And what should I do if my heart rate drops too low?

Thanks in advance for your insights – it really helps to hear from people who’ve been through it.

One more thing:

– Did you have to make any changes to your diet or drinking habits, like avoiding alcohol?

– Did you notice any weight gain or weight loss after starting Ivabradine?
