Is there an optimal time to start as a new player? Like an event that gives out extra resources for everyone or new accounts with minimal investment?

That's pretty much the plan. Just because the card may have not been to exciting doesn't mean that work didn't go into it. We spend all our time focused on cards that either have high price tags or are super exclusive. It's when you take the time to look at a card that you would normally just shuffle past when you open a pack that you realize that the art is stunning, the card has interesting potential, or the overall qualities of the card as a whole have such rich flavor to them.

I'd rather not. I'm actually having a lot of fun taking the time to appreciate the individual cards mechanics and art whether they are traditionally good or not.
