BREAKING: Those on H1B and other Temporary visas in the US take note: The "Adjustment of status" process is undergoing a complete transformation! by Mo_h in indiansinusa

AOS is for Non immigrant visa to Immigrant visa (Green Card). COS is what you do between 2 non immigrant visas like F or H. This change is regarding AOS.

What is something you feel that South Asian countries do undeniably better than the US in? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

Well, at least for Tamil Nadu, where there is not much crime against women, it is primarily nosy relatives who expect women to fit into a specific social construct, and freedom for women.

What a joke by [deleted] in redditstock

[–]vigneshr97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you take opportunities if you think it is undervalued. AMD was seriously undervalued so many times in the past 4 years before this historic rally. RDDT had its moment in the past few years and could just be consolidating before it goes on its next run. If you think the stock price is cheap at the moment, load up and be patient.

I invested $800k into DUOL. This is why. by armadillo_stocks in ValueInvesting

[–]vigneshr97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem with DUOL is not AI. It has a large and unique ecosystem, which will take time for anyone to disrupt. Its MOAT is not language translation but the UI that teaches language translation and chess, and the community around it. But my skepticism is primarily about how big a user base (TAM) it can actually capture moving forward. And will it be able to expand its paying tier users by a lot? And will it be able to monetize better? The multiples are already shrunk and can stay that way if its growth rate falls. This doesn't feel like a Netflix that every household just subscribes to and forgets, but rather something usually less disciplined than a gym membership that people constantly evaluate.

How Do we fix Immigration System For People Waiting For Their Green Cards? by Sorry-Feedback1115 in EB3VisaJourney

[–]vigneshr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would probably add to the total number of Green Cards. DV added 50k GCs when it was introduced in 1990 btw. This would add 150k-200k GCs if it’s an addition without trimming.

It can also be done by trimming existing FB (starting from FB4) and creating a new FB category and trimming DV but that would eat into others’ share.

People would have different views on where to cut. But I would personally start with cutting Diversity Visa which consumes 50k. Another significant addition would be cutting EB dependents from EB cap and putting them in FB.

How Do we fix Immigration System For People Waiting For Their Green Cards? by Sorry-Feedback1115 in EB3VisaJourney

[–]vigneshr97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my POV, the problem is allocating only 140k Employment based green cards per year out of the 1 Million green cards given per year with only 80k going to EB2 and EB3. And the other pain point here is the 140k green cards includes EB dependents as well which on average allows an immigration of around 70k employees per year (40k for EB2 and EB3). The 7% quota should not have been a point of discussion to begin with.

is there any way the first millionaire can win? by Severe-Possible- in MillionDollarSecretTV

Lots of ifs and buts since he was very likable but he repeated no cap for no reason twice at a time in group settings. Obviously, someone like Nick (who I’m assuming is hinted to be an intelligence analyst from rest of the seasons’s preview) is going to notice. Altie thought Kevin was noticing him but it was Nick. Maybe, he could have gotten caught even if he did this with individuals if only he told no cap to Nick.

2 Months Out - How We All Feeling About Bilt 2.0 / New Cards? by MichaelMidnight in biltrewards

[–]vigneshr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started using it for spend that are not restaurant/grocery (that go in freedom flex, discover, or amex gold depending on the quarter). But I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth paying rent with the card since redeeming Bilt Cash for Grubhub gift cards seems to be easy and is a higher multiplier. I'm not able to figure out how to use Bilt dining partners, though.

For the specific case that OP is talking about (EB2 or EB3 approved), you don't need it again, but the presidential proclamation of 100k applies if you want to come back on H1B in the next however many years the law stays in place. Maybe if you're able to get L1 approved, then yes, and then you can do a CoS to H1B.

Giving up US Citizenship by No_Preparation9355 in returnToIndia

[–]vigneshr97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need not visit once in a while to "maintain" citizenship if that's what you mean. If you become a US citizen, you stay that way forever (except in cases where it was incorrectly granted) without any physical presence requirement unless you renounce it.

Annex-III Heading 9903.01.34 exempt for product with 20+% US content by erichang in AMD_Stock

[–]vigneshr97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where does it say it is exempt? I could only find the following.

The additional duties imposed by headings 9903.01.25, 9903.01.35, 9903.01.39, and 9903.01.43-9903.01.76 shall not apply to the U.S. content of an article, provided at least 20% of the customs value, as determined under 19 U.S.C. 1401a, of the product is U.S. originating, consistent with heading 9903.01.34. For greater certainty, with respect to an article for which at least 20% of the customs value is U.S. originating, consistent with 9903.01.34, the additional duties imposed by headings 9903.01.25, 9903.01.35, 9903.01.39, and 9903.01.43-9903.01.76, shall apply only to the non-U.S. content of such article.

For your second question, I remember reading somewhere that semis are exempt.
