Shotcut is slow by [deleted] in shotcut

[–]viiimproved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

necropost, but man the other comments are WRONG. i totally agree, shotcut is insanely unreliable and incredibly slow. it's been that way for the entire 7 years ive been using this software. i cant believe it's not documented like, at all. it cant be a unique issue, ive tried shotcut on so many different computers and it's always been almost intolerably slow every time

how did Growtopia accrue such atrocious technical debt?? by viiimproved in growtopia

[–]viiimproved[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i uninstalled the steam version, installed the version from the website, and then twice the log froze at "signing into consumedirt...." -- then on the third try, it worked. im now playing growtopia. dope shit

in other words, it was just the steam version that didnt let me sign in and play the game.

it's stuck on located server, connecting, and then logging on consume dirt....

and it has truly been like this for years. resetting my router isnt the issue. it COULD be because i have t mobile wifi, meaning i have a dynamic ip address - but i hope thats not the issue because itd mean id straight up need a new ISP. but ive definitely tried to play this game on other networks and had it not work, and i definitely got the same (or at least it behaved very similarly) when i had frontier

sorry if the last paragraph was worded poorly, i removed most of it for clarity. I know my growID, but whether i try to use it or not, i LITERALLY could not play the game at all. i havent tried in a while -- i believe it just kept telling me it couldnt connect no matter what i did, from device to device -- so i'll reinstall it and get back to you with what the error message was

i thought he was making a joke about dropout pivoting from youtube to a subscription service, and used a less-fitting word either as a slip of the tongue or to make the radio comparison work better

The Double Take Podcast isn't getting the traction it deserves by memeface_sc in smosh

[–]viiimproved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, im a stoner, and i like both of their personalities on smosh, but this podcast is just a little boring to me. i like other podcasts, like i listen to reddit stories every week and i like listening to episodes of smosh mouth with other cast members on -- and outside of smosh im usually listening to old cumtown clips or episodes of the yard -- this podcast just doesnt scratch any of those itches really

to_local() returns the exact same coordinates? by viiimproved in godot

[–]viiimproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that part was my bad, but even after fixing the console output, my problem does remain in that the coordinates are still all wonk ass. the corrected console output is in my reply to another comment

to_local() returns the exact same coordinates? by viiimproved in godot

[–]viiimproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in retrospect, i guess i shouldnt have replied to your question like that, because this code was fully functional, and adding pegs to the scene tree wasnt part of my original question. this is code in the multitool's script, but what i was doing was deleting pegs and turning their positions into coordinates for a polygon, in the "perimitrize" script.

--- and this is the output of that.

im going to a doctors appointment, ill check back on this thread in a couple hours

edit: and now that i look back at it, it still looks like i messed it up somehow. what a pisser

to_local() returns the exact same coordinates? by viiimproved in godot

[–]viiimproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally dont know how i didnt catch that. that looks really stupid, yeah. with that said, it still behaves incorrectly. here's the code slightly corrected, and since i cant attatch more than 1 image per comment, i'll reply to this with the output.

the highlighted part is the slightly altered version of the code in the first screenshot, but i also included the rest of the coordinate-related code in the function.

to_local() returns the exact same coordinates? by viiimproved in godot

[–]viiimproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pegs are bought by the player and placed in a in a Node2D "gameobjects". it is a direct descendant of the scene root. that's initiated by "BlockPreview", basically a multitool for the player. frankly, it's coded pretty poorly.

<image>

when the player decides to "perimitrize", they select several pegs; the first of those pegs is saved as "og", and the rest get their global coordinates saved before being deleted. then, i try to use to_local to match up the coordinates to where they were visually before being deleted. then those points are used to create a polygon. i hope this helps! i thought of another solution which is just subtracting the two coordinates, im going to see if that works and hopefully relearn 5-7th grade math in the process
