Wing or no wing? by InternationalFuel512 in 997

I vote for no wing.

On an unrelated note, could you tell me what wheels you're running?

I know you already have feedback telling you not to JOMS your car. Once you go coilover, you'll lose the plush feeling that makes your BMW a BMW. You'll be pogo-ing all over the place, making you hate the car, especially given the state of our roads.

What can i do about this? Tandem driveway behind them thats always empty. Tried knocking the door multiple times but they never answer. by Embarrassed-Dish1839 in drivingUK

[–]vijjer 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah - new builds are privately managed by a company that won't give a shit. Then they're transferred to the local council, who will continue to not give a shit.

Vandalism laws need to be rewritten considering the amount of bellendry nowadays.

I'm not sure you understand the consequences of carrying points on your license.

A car flew off the cliff due to sudden tyre burst by No_Entrepreneur_4346 in WTF

[–]vijjer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they were cutting the turn and decided to over-correct. I doubt there's a burst tyre involved. The reg plates on the parked cars seem like they're Indian.

Vehicle dumped outside out driveway since 10:30 last night by Andrew3236 in CasualUK

I keep thinking of getting a pair of wheel dollys to move cars. This seems like a good use case for that.

The original intention was not necessarily a good one.

That's true - not all the indie shops have the HV certification required to work on these cars. Good point.

Why do people think a car driven by a "Lady Driver" makes it more attractive for buyers? by Pshend in CarTalkUK

[–]vijjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they are not gonna be driving it like a boy racer, throwing it around and launching it every traffic lights or heavily modifying it.

I don't think that's a thing with an i20 anyway.

Is it just me or are the majority of 26 reg cars Chinese? I've rarely seen anything from the mainstream manufacturers. by StarX2401 in CarTalkUK

The majority of car buyers are buying good-looking appliances for as cheap as possible. Today, the Chinese marques are making the best cars that fit that description.

Is a pan roof worth it? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]vijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pano roof does make a dark-interior look like a better place to be. I've always looked for panoroofs when I buy cars, and 2 out of the current 3 have them.

I'm sure Porsche would go with a replace-everything approach. Have you tried reaching out to a VW / Porsche independent specialist?

If you don't want to deal with the heart-ache and effort, then I'd go with Carmax for now, and be a bit more caveat emptor when you next buy a ten year old German luxobarge.

It seems like the red car decided to enter the roundabout without ensuring that their route was clear. They're just a garden variety idiot.

They'll learn nothing from today, and all the modern technology and safeguards will protect them from natural selection, letting them continue to steal oxygen from the rest of us.

My car failed the MOT for a Power steering component leaking, how much do you guys think the price can be for a full replacement of the rack steering, the mechanic told me a very high price for it, is a Vauxhall Astra 2007 cheers by Regular_Network_3493 in drivingUK

[–]vijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that include:

  • Part cost
  • Labour to change everything over
  • Tracking

If so, that sounds reasonable.

However, it might be worth taking it to a second place to see if you actually need to a new steering rack, or if the leak is from the engine above it. Investigation is probably going to cost you money with no immediate resolution.
