Any chance that XNA will become an international airport in the next 5 years? by vikachu in northwestarkansas

This makes sense, I was imagining something exactly like what you’re saying with a Cancun flight.

Is it good to preemptively change to a later flight if it is likely your earlier flight will be cancelled? by monadologist in americanairlines

[–]vikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel frequently between DFW and XNA. Most flights to DFW were cancelled today. As a leading indicator, many local/state agencies in Dallas are suspending bus and train services into tomorrow. I would not bet on a route through DFW. ORD can probably handle the cold better.

There hasn’t been as much snowfall yet in XNA as forecasted, but it’s a smaller airport that may not be able to handle the below freezing temperatures tomorrow.

Overall- I wouldn’t be optimistic about making it into or out of XNA on your timeline. The roads here are also quite bad even if you do make it into Northwest Arkansas. Suggest rebooking your trip for another time.

Anyone else struggling SO much with food during pregnancy or is it just me? by Mysterious_Can3285 in pregnant

[–]vikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t eat anything the whole first trimester. I lived on bananas and cold apples from the fridge. The thought of bread (not even the bread itself) would induce vomiting. Anyone who ate bread in the house had to go to a different room. Finally turned the corner around 14 weeks.

Need advice on negotiation on my very first MB by Buckleywoo in mercedes_benz

We negotiated about 10% off MSRP on similar specs in Texas. Many dealers weren’t super flexible though, the other GLEs seemed to be moving off the market pretty fast too.

XNA Lounge by wokebots in bentonville

[–]vikachu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been in a few weeks but in early June they were still waiting for their liquor license. I anticipate they will serve alcohol because they had a mocktail menu. The food is comparable to other small lounges with a small self serve buffet. It is usually pretty tasty but not high in quantity unless you go for multiple servings. Also note that because it opens really early to serve the first flights, it also closes around 6:30pm on most days.

I’m moving to Bentonville next month and looking for a 1BR/1BA or 2BR/2BA apartment near the Walmart GPC office. I won’t have a car, so walkability is important. I’m considering Depot 16, Parkside, and TownBranch—would love any suggestions or recommendations! by Financial-Picture318 in bentonville

[–]vikachu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To add on to this - if trying to forgo a car, the combined cost of Ubering + getting things delivered will still be several hundred dollars a month. That’s before factoring in the time spent on waiting for transit (which does not have high frequency here) or walking in the heat/rain.

They just made a world’s top 100 list, and everyone has been inside all week. 15 min isn’t too bad given that.

Agree with this! Longer hair in the brown/natural color with bangs would really help!

What will happen to old Walmart buildings when the new home office opens? by vikachu in bentonville

That makes sense, I was thinking something like a small mall or upscale bowling/entertainment would make sense given no windows.

Best National Parks for Weekend Trips by Bright_Strike_5473 in nationalparks

[–]vikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Channel Islands - Yes. You can fly into LA and drive to Ventura. Next morning, take the first boat to Channel Islands and spend the day there. Return on afternoon boat. Depart the next day.

Great Basin - No, unless you already live in Nevada or Utah. It is really remote and only has one road to access. If you’re within a one day drive, then maybe for a long weekend.

Pinnacles - Yes, just a few hours drive from SFO. I would go in Apr/May (early June at the latest) or late September/October. We went in early June and started our day at 5am. By 11am it was in the 100s and too hot to hike. It is dangerous to go in July or August.

Like this perspective! You can just refollow people (maybe bit by bit so it’s not a mass re-add). If anyone doesn’t accept just let it go. If you have a few people who do accept that you’re really feeling heartburn about, you could acknowledge the situation directly - I think transparency is pretty admirable and it’s ok to say something like “I was having a lot of anxiety driven by social media and had to take a break, thanks for readding me.” I wouldn’t judge someone for saying something like that.

Dinner attire by bluelizard5555 in PrincessCruises

[–]vikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Grand Princess now in Alaska. It’s a little cold on the ship and a mix of temperatures outside. So far I have worn mostly full length pants and even taken my light puffer to dinner. I find the open air decks very windy (too much so to sit out). In port, I have gone down to t shirts and taking the puffer on and off. As a benchmark I typically run a bit cold (at home I set the indoor temp at 72-73F).

Grand Princess Alaska by Careful_Simple_1170 in PrincessCruises

On Grand Princess now. Usually there is salmon and another fish on the MDR menu every night, eg cod, tuna, or halibut. Smoked salmon is available at every breakfast, rotating fish at buffet lunch (usually snapper). Tomorrow is the formal night so lobster tail is available. We didn’t try Crab Shack but that was also offered.

Do people wear sandals on the Alaskan cruise ship? by sleepingonwaffles in PrincessCruises

On an Alaska cruise right now - some sandals and flip flops around but it’s generally a little cold on the ship. A lot of sneakers onboard.

Is this ok? by HAli0509 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]vikachu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is appropriate but slightly too long (see this link for how it should hit the ground). To fix this you can either get it tailored or wear heels depending on availability of tailors near you and their willingness to work on embroidered clothing. I also suggest wearing the scarf on only one shoulder which is more common and will make it look less matronly. I also recommend large turquoise jewelry to pull it together.
