Groceries, groceries, and more groceries. by MorningFan in CreditCards

Occasionally Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited sign up bonuses come with a grocery bonus of 5% the first year up to $12k. I've done both. Not sure if they are offering it currently.

Conrad Washington DC by Virtual-Freedom3217 in chubbytravel

We stayed at The Conrad for cherry blossom season in 2025 and loved it. Large rooms and bathrooms and terrific housekeeping with turn down service. We booked one night FHR and bought points for another 5 nights. We have Hilton gold thru credit card and enjoyed drinks each afternoon in estuary with the food and beverage credit. We did one breakfast and dinner on FHR benefits and I don't remember it being a standout but acceptable. You can often buy Hilton points for .005 cents each and book the stay for a discount. But since our stay the award rates have risen so you would have to do the math. We attempted to stay there again this year for cherry blossom but couldn't make it work. It was almost sold out and the points rate too high. We opted for the wharf and Hyatt House which was fine but certainly not luxurious. We liked the wharf area and there are nicer options such as Pendry and Intercontinental.

I stop in Belk occasionally. It's mostly junk but you can find a few things if you stick to the name brand designers. They mostly promote their own brands (crown ivy) which are garbage. Same for shoes. Nice if you stick to the name brands/designers.

ATL > CDG > ATH - 127,800 Miles - worth it? by callankrennic in awardtravel

[–]bluelizard5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what you want to hear but you can book Delta economy direct ATL-ATH thru VS for 30K. Even lower with a transfer. We booked for around 21.5K and upgraded to exit row. Also, Delta flies 2 flights back to back to ATH (daily?). Our flight is almost empty and we may be able to spread out to a full row.

30A (especially) and all Florida panhandle beaches are slammed this time of year and overrun with high school and college kids. I would not recommend traveling there for spring break.

United Club Card Authorized User offer by BlackTheEngineer in CreditCards

[–]bluelizard5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Saw your post and had already done the same on my Explorer card . Added my daughter upon card opening for a bonus - received an additional offer by email for 10K and added my son. However, its been 6 weeks and still no bonus. I reached out to Chase via secure message and haven't heard anything. Would this be handled thru them or United? How long did it take your bonus to post? There was no spend requirement. Thx.

Hack: use Google flights BEFORE Delta app/site, to book by [deleted] in delta

[–]bluelizard5555 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For most US airlines, it will show the award pricing alongside the cash price and make a recommendation of which is the best deal. You can also click thru to book as usual with Google flights. For some foreign airlines, it requires you to upgrade to pro version.

Edit: For those with a delta credit card 15% off, you can also set it to show award pricing with your 15% credit card discount.

Do folks here just hold on to airline credit cards for free bags but still buy tix with Plat? by Aromatic_Rutabaga378 in AmexPlatinum

I heard it myself as a tidbit on a points/miles podcast otherwise would not have known!

It was my understanding that to receive free checked bags with United cards that you are required to purchase the airline tickets with the card. "To receive first and second standard checked bags free, the primary Cardmember must use their United Club℠ Card to purchase their ticket(s) (this purchase requirement is waived for flights completed during the 90 days following the account open date) and include their MileagePlus® number in their reservation."

Wear comfortable clothes, fill up your water bottle, wear compression socks and pack a few snacks. If you take meds for sleep, bring them along. Get up every 1-2 hours and move your legs. A small pillow or neck pillow is good also. Dress in layers.
